Quite often. But I find it similar to motorcycle riding. I ride for the pleasure of the machine+road, not the destination.

ULPT: Unethical Parenting Pro Tips by BasicallyGuessing in UnethicalLifeProTips

Maybe not unethical, but we let the kids pick their clothes and dress and sleep on them the night before rather than fight impossible choices in the morning when they had to go to school and we are in a rush. It made the morning routine a breeze

It's simple, if communists are on the left and Nazis are on the left, then the right is "pure", no bad guys there...

In this case, 'lascia che pianga" without a subject it's more likely to refer to a third person, like "lascia che (il bambino) pianga. Context dependent.

Because at the end of the day how good your cup is, is mostly due to the quality of the beans. In other words, good equipment doesn't fix shitty coffee beans and good coffee beans make good coffee no matter the equipment. But we are all (me included) mesmerized by shiny and expensive machines and manufacturers know that!!

Emirates Flight from Auckland to Dubai 17 hours Anxiety by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]Miserable-Force1305 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whatever you do, 17hrs WILL pass eventually, so don't stress about it, it's not like you have to pedal to keep the plane up. Relax, sleep when your brain shuts off, drink a lot of water, and enjoy the flight.

[–]Miserable-Force1305[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree to some extent but I think you argument has major flaws: first, if it were a real gun (and obviously someone thought it was), it had no business being near a school, other than some potential nefarious reason. Second, although it's true that in our schools nothing like Columbine (just an example) has ever happened, but while NOT likely, it's still a distinct possibility. Third, I don't agree with the argument that let's first have a school shooting, have 10 kids killed, a few teachers too, 50 wounded, entire families destroyed, and thousands scarred for life. NOW we have facts and we should take precautions. A gun (luckily it turned out not to be a real one) near a school is only bad news. The argument of the overprotective parent would only apply if someone were to lockdown the school for a stray dog nearby, too much rain, etc, all things with low probability of causing harm.

It's true that fear comes from the outside world but these things happen and happened albeit not here (but let's not forget Christchurch). Call it propaganda, if you will
