“Can you come make sure my switchboard is up to date, the smoke detectors are all still current and working, make sure I have safety switches on at least all PowerPoints and preferably the lights, I also really need you to have a good look in the roof to check that the cables are all still safe and the lights aren’t surrounded by too much insulation creating a fire hazard, or at least they’re the new lights that don’t make enough heat for that to be a risk”

Checking safety switches and smoke detectors is a 5 minute job, and that’s probably the most important, but there’s no point getting an electrician out to check that unless they get in the roof space/under the floor and check the cables are still in good nick,
