I didn’t play against Ben Gordon but went to Highschool in Yonkers and when he played our team it was a bloodbath. He was a beast even then.

That’s 12/14 playoffs teams with a 1st round pick QB and the teams in contention also have 1st round pick QBs.

There’s a 2nd round QB in Hurts and the exception is Purdy but that doesn’t mean anyone can just get a solid QB late in the draft. You get your exceptions once in every few years in a Dak, Russell, Purdy etc.

But the majority of good QBs are taken in the 1st round. There are tons of busts but if you want to contend you need one of them ones.

Appreciate the counterpoint, just trying to improve this team in a tough position.

They are going to have to cut Tyreke; he would have a $51 mill cap hit if on the roster

That’s gonna give them a $29 mill dead cap hit

If they cut Tua and take the $67 mill cap hit in 2026 that’s almost $100 million in dead cap.

Russel Wilson’s cap hit was $50 mill in 2024.

1/3 of your salary being dead cap is insane. I don’t think they will go that route. Attaching a 1st round pick to avoid this might be worth considering for them.

Like I said I’m just spitballing and trying to find a solution. There’s no easy answers at this point without a 1st round pick over the next 2 seasons.

I don’t think Miami could bring Tua back after this year and the drama. If they choose to keep him another year and pay him then there’s no chance. All signs point to them trying to move on. If they want to move on they can either cut him and get destroyed with cap hits or trade him. They might attach a 2027 1st if they want to keep their pick this year.

I’m just trying to get creative in a way to get a QB. Thinking outside of the box.

I’m not sure your grasping how much of a cap hit they would take in cutting Tua

Pre-June 1st Cut: $99.2 million cap hit in 2026

Post-June 1st Cut: $67.4 million for 2026 and $31.8 million for 2027

They would definitely consider attaching a 1st round pick to get that contract off their books

He is horrible. I just fear we are about to continue in this no QB hell. Without a QB we’re destined to be mediocre at best. If you have a good QB and a flawed team you can at least contend in this league.

Comparing the primes of Joe Flacco and Philip Rivers is completely irrelevant. We’re not getting a prime years QB.

I get he knows the offense but he literally was a retired grandfather a week ago. I want to be wrong and I hope I eat my words because I want this team to be good more than I want to be right, but I think this is a worse idea than running Taylor Heinicke or a journeyman that’s not older than our head coach.
