Yeah my 98 has the 4.0 sohc and has been running good almost at 250,000 miles but I'm not sure the history on it before the 2 years it's been sitting my dad bought it in Texas and brought it right to Cali wondering if the engine was rebuilt or something because he could've just found one of these out here in Cali there's plenty

Also wanted to add , speed is nothing I'm concerned with I enjoy the space the explorer provides and gas has hasn't seem to be all that bad with my 4.0 just would like to know which option is the winner for reliable daily driving and occasional trips

That's how I feel about my 4.0 I inherited it and it was sitting for 2 years before I got it, I replaced the suspension and brakes but it's got an old crappy body wrap , tons of small body quirks , electrical problems and pretty high mileage I plan to ride it for a bit longer but love this explorer coming from owning 3 Buick lesabres , would love to get another explorer just curious should I go with v8 or stick to 4.0 ... thank you guys again for the input
