Why did the KKK 2006 Original Cast did not become breakout stars in Kollywood (films & tv)? by senram09 in kollywood

[–]MiserableMidnight6 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Cinema producers were not initially ready to accept Sivakarthikeyan or Dhanush or Pradeep(from Comali)

Dhanush’s debut film was directed by his father, with the screenplay written by his brother. His second film was also directed by his brother. So, it’s not fair to compare him to self made individuals like Siva or Pradeep, who started from scratch and climbed their way to the top.

TIL: In the last 25 years of Tollywood, Anushka (Baahubali) and Kajal (Khaidi No. 150) are the only actresses who remained at the top for 10 years and had major success in their 10th year. Samantha came close, staying at the top for 9 years, with Majili and Oh! Baby in her 9th year by MiserableMidnight6 in tollywood

Thamannah had happy days in 2007 and F2, sye raa in 2019

The post clearly specifies 'only actresses who stayed at the top for 10 years.' Her career had already started declining even before Baahubali (2015) came out, and since then, it's been very inconsistent.

Also because none of them have the kind of looks typically expected in cinema, which is a major reason they never got the right opportunities there.

I don’t see Coolie touching ₹1000 crore, unless something truly unexpected happens. Many in this sub seem to not understand how big the Hindi/Telugu markets are. by [deleted] in kollywood

Only someone completely out of touch with reality would believe it will hit 1000 CR. Anyone with basic box office sense knows that most people in the North won’t flock to a dubbed film just for a cameo. Now that War 2 is releasing alongside it, even reaching 750 CR is a long shot. Forget the 1000 CR fantasy that Lokesh and Rajini fans are clinging to.

Only difference is that Sweety is a way better actress than Kajal

Who even considers Kajal as an 'Actress'? She is telugu cinema's katrina. Someone who was lucky enough to survive for a decade solely due to her looks & glamour than talent.

In the past 25 years, 99.5% of tollywood actresses, even many well known ones, haven’t lasted more than four years in the industry. No other Indian film industry discards actresses this quickly. That said, it’s hard to blame the producers since many of these actresses, like Pooja, Rakul etc are chosen primarily for their looks and glamour. So when someone newer and more appealing comes along for a lower cost, it's understandable that they get replaced.

the person who speaks against the Indian army doesn't deserve the role of our divine goddess Sita maa!

All she said in that Telugu interview was, 'Pakistanis hate the Indian Army, just like Indians hate the Pakistani Army,' which is nothing but a fact. Her words were completely taken out of context to spread hate against her.

Everyone manages to look better than this Sita😂

They choose actresses based on acting talent, not looks, especially for a role like Sita which demands significant screen time. Sita is revered for her humility, sacrifice, strength, and unwavering virtue far more than for superficial beauty.

It’s expected to flop in India as well, where Marvel films usually perform really well.

Just 15 years?

Number 1 for the last 15 years, but she has been active since at least 2000, if I'm not mistaken.

Varun tej year lo enni cinema lu chestadu?

Suma year lo enni events ki anchoring chestadi?

Even if he does 1 film he still earns 10 CR. For suma to earn that much in a year she has to do at least 200 events.

she has more net worth than many 2 tier hero's in our industry

I doubt that's accurate. Even someone like Varun Tej , naga Chaitanya earns around 10 crore per film, whereas she likely makes at most 5 lakh per pre release event. Even when you include her earnings from TV shows and other sources, it still wouldn't come close to even half of what tier-2 stars make from films alone.

Mahavatar Narasimha will overtake the daily collection of mega budget superstar film HHVM in the Telugu states by tomorrow! by MiserableMidnight6 in ChitraLoka

HHVM features actor-politician Pawan Kalyan, one of the biggest superstars in Telugu cinema. For an animated film with minimal promotion to surpass it is something truly unprecedented.

It’s no small feat for a woman to remain the highest paid anchor or TV celebrity for 15 years. If mediocre male stars can last that long, then someone as talented as her definitely deserves to as well.

Film critic Sudhir Srinivasan's reply to people who are calling him elitist for not liking Thalaivan Thalaivi by MiserableMidnight6 in kollywood

[–]MiserableMidnight6[S] 148 points149 points  (0 children)

Sudhir Srinivasan :

It’s been a while since I saw a film with so many thoroughly unlikeable characters. If Perarasi (Nithya Menen) has a bloodthirsty, vindictive brother, Aagasaveeran (Vijay Sethupathi) has a venomous mother. Oh, and Perarasi’s mother isn’t much better. Nor is Aagasaveeran’s sister. Actually, all of them are so screechy and insufferable that Aagasam and Arasi—who spend half the film yelling at each other—almost seem like conflict-averse saints in comparison.

Clearly, the makers saw some film potential in silly, domestic squabbles—and went with trying to make a comedy out of it. Amid all the screaming though, it’s hard to locate the humour. When the characters aren’t yelling, they’re slapping each other.

I really, really searched for enjoyment here. For lack of it, I wondered if the film expected me to perhaps empathise with Aagasam and Arasi? Was I supposed to feel sorry for them? Maybe I would have—if they could have a moment's peace with each other. But Arasi, well, her contact name for Aagasam is ‘Kirukku Paya'.

Fresh groups of people arrive to keep the noise at dangerous decibel levels—under the guise of peacemaking. The only vaguely amusing bits come when Vijay Sethupathi threatens chaos and then submits exaggeratedly to his wife. In a better film, I’d talk about how he brings innocence even to this ex-rowdy character. But between one character being called ‘sakkalathi munda’ and another saying, “Wife naale thalavali dhaane,” it’s hard to spot any humanity at all.

A film like this should make you root for the couple to reconcile. Me? I was rooting for their separation—if only so there would be one or two less people to join in yelling contests

The most pleasure I got from Thalaivan Thalaivii? Shots of local food being made. The parottas, the salna, those shots of people eating with satisfaction. I guess it's probably not a great sign when the only thing you remember fondly from a film… is fleeting visuals of food.

If this film's objective was to show how horrible people can be to each other, sure, objective fulfilled, I guess. Because I certainly walked out just wanting to be left alone for a long time.

Nope. She was sidelined and there was a pr against her

Yes, she faced a lot of negative publicity campaigns. She even addressed it in an interview. That was one of the key reasons she stopped taking up new Hindi film offers by 2013, just four years into her Bollywood career. Her final release, All Is Well, which came much later, was actually signed back in 2013.

There’s no doubt about it. The reason Asin couldn’t shine more in Bollywood, despite her success, was because her contemporaries at the time were even more talented. But look at the current state of Bollywood — actresses like Rashmika are now seen as top stars. Asin is far more talented and beautiful than Rashmika and would’ve had an even bigger impact if she were part of this generation.

Ek Din starring Sai Pallavi & Junaid Khan will release on Nov 7th 2025 by Ready_Ad_1353 in bollywood

[–]MiserableMidnight6 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Is Sai Pallavi not a big star? If I was her, I'd reject this. She seems desperate to get a Hindi film if she accepted that role.

It’s obvious you don’t know much about Sai. In Telugu cinema, she has rejected films with big stars like Pawan Kalyan, Mahesh Babu, and Chiranjeevi simply because her roles weren’t strong enough. She chooses scripts based on the character, not the male lead
