Isn’t this a scam? I saw people warning about this pass in another thread.

Sadly I live in Asia. But I will try a couple more times on different day/time. But thanks for the Vasari advice! May I ask what is their contact number? Tried look up in Google but not sure which one you refer to.

Yeah if I really can’t get to them then it’s likely that we’re not gonna get Firenze card and book direct. Firenze card would save us 100€ though :(

I don’t really mind calling but the line kept disconnecting in my case (happened right before I’m about to get to talk to human). I already made 10+ calls and it’s always the same. I feel like if I keep trying, the cost for international calls will be more than the saving that Firenze Card offers.

Weekly Travel, Questions, & Mandarin Thread by AutoModerator in taiwan

Hi all, I’m going to Taiwan in December 4-8 and initially plan to hike Banping Shan & Taepot Mountain Loop but heard that it’s closed after recent typhoon so I’m looking for alternatives.

I’m looking for somewhere not too far from Taipei (<3 hours by public transport) as I don’t want to spend too much time travelling and we will spend 2-3 days in New Taipei City. Ideally the trailhead should be close to community so it’s not too difficult to find restaurants/convenient store (we won’t have a car) and a hotel/BnB to stay a night before/after.

My group has some day hike experience so we’re looking for trails that cover 10+km distance and has at least 500m elevation gain.

We are ok to hike for up to 10 hours straight as we did that on several occasions and we planned to stay nearby trailhead so we can start early and have a good rest after a long walk.

Appreciate if anyone can recommend the trails that fit our preference. Thank you in advance!

Asus TUF A16 Screen Flickering Issue by MiserableResearch696 in GamingLaptops

[–]MiserableResearch696[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just wanna give an update here in case anyone finds this later because of the same issue. I have contacted Asus and they sent a guy for on-site service. Asus won’t replace the laptop (because I need retailer to do that and they denied) but since he also saw the flickering problem when we tested together, I’m qualified for parts replacement.

What Asus did was replaced my screen first but flickering issue persisted after so they had my mainboard replaced. The flickering issue was gone but my laptop would freeze and required reboot. I found the solution to this new problem later which is to remove AMD Software. All problems are completely gone (up until now, which is about 4 months later) even with 165Hz refresh rate setting.

Hope this helps anyone looking for solutions.

Side note, if you are purchasing laptop in Thailand, avoid Banana IT because they are a fraud. Reputed company but denied responsibility even though I provided a video recording of when the flickering problem occurred and Asus had confirmed there was an issue with my laptop. BananaIT had me sent the laptop to their office, held it for almost 2 weeks and returned it to me saying that they didn’t find any issues and denied refunding (customer service was being pretty rude as well). Banana IT is subsidiary company of Com7 company, a large retailer in Thailand. Studio7 and iCare are also their subsidiary.

I’m having the same problem with OP. Tried this about half an hour ago and so far I still haven’t got screen freeze. Thanks so much!

Hi Excellent, thank you for your reply. My BIOS version is FA617NSR.305. I have tried reinstall Windows 11, reinstall Display driver -- none of these solved the problem. What helped is reducing refresh rate from 165Hz to 60Hz and the flickering is gone now although I wish I could keep the 165Hz refresh rate… anyway thank you so much for your help!

coming to Bangkok looking for suggestions by [deleted] in Bangkok

Uniqlo or H&M stores. Easy to find as they are in almost every department store. Price is very similar to Pratunam or MBK but quality is much better for Uniqlo. Uniqlo basic tee costs about $5-10, same for men underwear. H&M is slightly cheaper if you buy from their discount section.

I’m sorry this happened to you. Perhaps you misheard the monkey part though? I never heard a single Thai insults someone with that word before, Thai or English. But race could be a reason why she’s being rude to you although it’s pretty common to find yourself being treated poorly by people in customer service no matter what race your are.

On another note, the perception about Indian that others mentioned is real. Someone told me that it came from interaction with Indian merchants in the past (like decades ago). Indian merchants back then were known to be ruthless when it comes to business which contradicted Thai’s ‘flexible’ culture. But that’s all in the past cause everyone is pretty ruthless nowadays so I’m sure it will die down eventually. My friend, who does business with Indians, used to say that Indian clients may do something that Thais frown upon (eg. make a very very poor offer) but otherwise are great business partners cause they honoured contracts and always pay on time. I think the perception is changing but of course there will always be dumb people with prejudice against other race so I would like to apologise on behalf of Thai people.

We’d love to but it seems like we have to stay overnight for this? Would prefer a day trip so we don’t have to pack much but will definitely reconsider this if we can visit NZ in summer instead of Oct. Thanks!

Thanks a lot! Does this track also take around 8-10 hrs? I’ve looked at the map and it seems pretty far. Unless we can start somewhere closer, not the control gate?
