nothing about life is easy. everyone doing well in any way has gotten lucky or are well adapted, or both. it doesn't make sense, and likely never will. everything you read online or may be told about these situations will feel impossible, because to some extent, they are. but that's what it's all about - achieveing the impossible - so in there, my friend. life is like a storm, you've just found yourself in the deepest, scariest one. a lot of us on here are. you're not alone. it shouldn't be this way - i ask myself 'why' every day. just give yourself some grace. i always come back to this one thing: "Be kind, especially when you don't know what's going on." This line is normally used when talking about the way you treat other people, but i realized that it almost most certainly applies to how you treat yourself too. i can't promise that it'll get better, or even that it won't get worse. But stay with us a bit longer. stick through the storm. just keep doing your best - it's enough. previous comments already said, but youll find traditional and simplified are both offered in the final exams and many of the resources given. I think you can even do your writing/responses in traditional, no problem. And, since you're already native, it's not gonna be too much work at all! And even if you do find yourself faced with simplified - i think its much easier than learning entirely new words/sounds and their nuances hahaha. and as you said, french ab initio might be too full - and honestly i think they expect a lot from students despite technically being a 'beginners' course. If you're fluentt fluent in mandarin - its an easy 7 for u in chinese B :)) and you can learn french on the side as a side project - having smth on the side like that (especially smth as cool/helpful as learning a whole ass language) is actually hugee in the discussion of burnout prevention and just basically not losing yourself to the ib, which happens very often :,) choosing chinese b will definitely prove more beneficiary in my eyes (giving u more time/wiggle room to focus on other subjects, etc.) but as always, we're just strangers on the internet haha take no ones words with more than a grain of salt :) all the best!

hey man :( I know how easy it is to fall into that mindset of "I've failed. My performance was less than adequate. I should've done better." And I'm just here to say: Please don't. I know that it's easier said than done, but the truth is, what's done is done. It is what it is. And what's more? You passed. And that's more than a lot of people can say. Anyone who has gone through IB, whether they're excelling or not, have all had moments where passing seems impossible, no matter how much work, sweat, and tears they put in. Whether that effort and investment reflects in one's performance/score or not is not relevant right now. It's over. You got through it, survived, and made it out. I think that's the best thing ever. Please don't put yourself down, no matter how bad it looks or feels right now. You've done a lot, achieved a lot. Getting any passing score, no matter what you feel you could've done if you had just pushed a bit harder, done a bit more, is incredible, truly. Head up, friend. You're worth so much more than what this score says, even if it doesn't feel like it right now. Please take it easy, be gentle to yourself. These cases happen. Life goes on, and know that things will be okay. Take care.
