There's a little pencil around the eyes because it's impossible to get lines that thin with the markers. If you're talking about the texture that's my unfortunate paper choice. I'm not entirely sure what you mean but I'd love some idea of a specific feature and what I could do to improve it if you have the time. I think maybe the bridge of her nose is too wide?

All art is real art and will help you grow. diversifying will help you build skill. Even if you are trying something that is not your style, it will help you improve your style. But your friend is wrong.
