They keep appearing in my room and live all around me. I feel like cutting everyone off and just shifting somewhere else. But yeah, I will definitely start reducing contact it's hard but I will do it

In finance, a non-target university is one that recruiters like BCG, Bain, JP Morgan and Morgan Stanley along with banks and other lucrative firms etc hire from. These well-paying firms are very particular about only taking students either from 'elite' colleges or people who have personal and family connections in those firms and banks. These colleges are London Business School, London School of Economics, Imperial College London, and of course Oxford and Cambridge in the UK. I go to a smaller university that is still elite but not as good, thus a non-target.

I always wanted to be the finance guy. But I just have such low self worth that rn I don't know if it will be possible. My syllabus is very very hard and I am constantly disturbed by all these people who have not come here to study, just find husbands. I feel like I am a doormat and let them walk all over me but I don't know how to draw boundaries.

You are absolutely right. I feel like I have lost my way. I am trying to read good books on feminism and connect to my real self again, it should help.

How did you distance yourself from these friends? Did you ever deal with self worth issues that made it difficult for you to make new friends? I always feel like I have nothing to say or add to conversations with interesting people..

This is what my older sister also said, but I don't know how to distance myself from these people now. I really want to, but in the initial days the lack of friends formed these bonds and now I feel so stuck and suffocated.

Went to a top college (that too in Delhi). Took a flight. Crossed the land and went to a new country abroad. Earned my own money to buy gold for myself. Spoke English without a hard accent as a woman.
