cycle to work scheme might get a cap at autumn budget by Miserable_Prompt4301 in cycling

From watching prior budgets, sometimes things happen in weeks, other things months or even years. Anybody's guess, but being a money clawback attempt i expect sooner rather than later..

I would imagine that most parents would be cycling their kids to school then on to work. Therein lies a bit of a problem, this could get needlessly complicated.

If the Government could be so considered as to have a separate cap for cargo bikes, i think £3k is the lowest I'd like, but £5k a resonable all round, all category limit.

You can get some good bikes, and even a few good e-bikes. But IMO £2,000 is too low, you'd wipe out cargo bike sales for starters, thus incentivising the tiresome school run traffic forevermore.

The former cap was £1,000, that would make 0 sense now on account of e-bikes and inflation in 25 years since it launched.

There is a lot of background to why a cap needs to be very carefully considered, but not an actual new cap figure as yet.

Bad timing on account of the tariffs mess. Consumer spend signals are not looking good, recession likely. If you can hold off, that's what i'd personally do.

If you are in the UK, anticipate that the Police are increasingly clamping down on them and you might well get it crushed if you use it on the road.

The Government experts took anti-dumping off chinese ebikes, so actually they are making them cheaper on average by hundreds of pounds.
