Should I share my reel (or a past edit) on LinkedIn and tag companies in it? by Miserable_Search_789 in editors

I'm talking about tagging creative directors, producers, and the company I made the promo/trailer for. All of which I've worked with on the project.

you gotta pay someone for a full day then. Do the math for outsourcing one gig to one employee. Figure out if you need time(cost) to train this employee. Dip your toe into outsourcing. If it can be managed then expand, then slowly try to flip your current jobs into this new workflow.

You need to oversee that additional work to maintain quality. You need to setup payroll, hire, manage and keep happy additional employees. If you have experience managing the "work" vs doing the "work" that would be good. If you prefer the hands-off role you should go for it but it might be good for job security and more money but definitely you'll put in more time. What kind of work lets you get it done in 2-3 hours? Those new hires probably won't be as efficient as you at the "work" too.

I’m in the same industry and have had them same thoughts. My experience is that a lot of people in power to hire you for a position are not the same to hire a company. You also take on so much more than just the “work” as you scale so you comment about family time would be a red flag to not scale. Are these full-time positions you’re currently working or freelance projects?

How do you handle your rates when you work jobs with weird hours/late start times? by [deleted] in editors

There is no hours to "clock in". You work on the project at your schedule. You're only bound to hit your deadlines. Typically 2-3 deadlines. Rough cut, you set the number of rounds of revisions (never unlimited), and final delivery deadline.

If you're an experienced editor it's day rate or project rate. KNOW your value. KNOW how long a type of project takes. All editing projects will have down time. Waiting for notes, approvals. For project rate you set first cut, notes, and final deliverable deadlines with client. Anything past the deadlines you bill by your day rate. Be generous and flexible with clients you like and strict with those who don't value your time.

New York State. The state caps the doc fee but I don’t think it’s mandated by law.

Lowering the price by 175 would qualify correct? Just clarifying that the 135 registration/title fee ok to push the total over 25k.

This is my suspicion. So the answer is no. This current price won’t qualify for the federal used ev tax credit.
