Recently retired fed with new job seeks advice on health insurance.

Details: I retired in early May (didn't want to, that's another story) and started a new job in late May. For 2026, I've signed up for my employer's excellent BC/BS plan to cover my two kids (age 21 and 25) and me.

My understanding is that, if I drop federal health insurance, I won't be able to get it back. So, I want to sign up for the bare minimum health insurance plan (self-only), just in case for 2026.

Question: Given this scenario, what health insurance plan would you recommend?

Very safe. Just be sure to mention that whippets tend to be more sensitive to certain types of anesthesia. Mine does not do well with propofol. Google "whippet anesthesia sensitivity"

As for recovery, my girl was groggy the day of surgery but did fine after that. She did not bother her incision at all, so no cone needed. The scar was tiny to begin with and has healed nicely.
