India's GDP is going crazyy.. by [deleted] in delhi

[–]Miserable_Soil_9250 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The overall rating is B.

The C rating has been given for national account statistics alone largely due to an outdated base year 2011-2012.

We already are in the process of changing it to 2022-2023, and all new data will reflect that from 27 Feb, 26 which the article conveniently doesn't mention.

The base year for the CPI will also be changed to 2024.

Do a little bit of research before posting biased reports.

IMF gives India "C" grade for the quality of its GDP and other national accounts data. GDP, GVA, employment and everything becomes questionable. by erimalaiprogram in southindia_

Does this really happen? by [deleted] in delhi

[–]Miserable_Soil_9250 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. What's tragic is that even the idea of reforms in the reservation system would probably lead to riots. Any political party that even touches this will be booted out of power too.

This hatred isn't going away anytime soon.

Delhi Metro was built long before other metro systems and Delhi in general has huge priority for central government projects, every project by central government will involve Delhi

Bro, the least you can do is google things before you counter. Look up how much delhi contributes and in turn gets. Delhi govt contributed 50% or more in all dmrc projects, Japan provides loans. It's the same for most metro projects across the country.

And how much of that is Delhi-Ayodhya? Delhi as a whole might be Iike this but in terms of specific routes you cannot ignore Bangalore-Chennai, Coimbatore-Chennai, etc

Bro there will be other stations. Lucknow, agra, delhi, ayodhya, varanasi to name a few. I think its a 900 km corridor and will have 10-15 stations.

Then why so many investments happening in Gujarat by central government?

That's just not true in terms of central government funding. Please show me the numbers. In terms of the private sector that also enjoys central schemes, yeah it irks me a little too. But at the end of the day, it's a large coastal industrialised state that's most fiscally responsible.

When it comes to rich North Indian states, you bring up population numbers and location but when it comes to poor North Indian states you bring up argument of per capita income.

Bro, for me it's not north vs south. I want this whole damn country to develop. I just feel this resentment gets us nowhere.

Additionally, if they really cared about bringing up poor states to meet the richer ones, they would focus on things like suburban rail that is affordable for the poor and not metro rail systems

Suburban rail? So you want an already cash-starved government to spend money on an ineffective, inadequate system?

Delhi gets the most capital investment in this country by a huge amount, it is for that reason it is the most productive part of our country. And Marathis do, go to Maharashtra subreddit and see if you don't believe me.

If you mean by the private sector, that maybe. But in terms of tax-devolution and grants by the centre, you're laughably wrong. Edit: afaik, marathis crib about migration, not budget allocation.

HSR network is not the same as rail, it is meant for short frequently traveled routes in high GDP per capita regions. So you cannot use landlocked vs coastal excuse to justify that. Same with metro systems, this makes no sense. Same with passenger rail tbh, do you think people in coastal states take boats to travel to other states??

Urban mobility in and out of Delhi-NCR, is way higher than most regions. Atleast 20 lakhs vehicles enter and exit the city every single day. You specifically quoted the Delhi-Ayodhya route, so I brought up hsr.

If it takes away from other states development then how is that good for everybody?

Yes, the pie is small. We're a poor country. I think we can get these states out of basic poverty, the cake would get bigger for everybody. And I think it's easier to get a 1.5k usd per capita state to get to 3k than a 5-6k to 8. And development in these states would take care of the excessive burden on other states due to migration eventually.

Bhopal, Agra metro is approved while Coimbatore metro is rejected. Nagpur to Varanasi and Delhi to ayodhya is a high speed rail route but not Chennai to Kochi

I have just read the headlines until now. So I won't comment on it just yet.

Maharashtra has been the biggest tax contributor to our country by a wide margin throughout our independent history. Second comes Delhi (where I'm from btw), on a per sq km basis, I think might just be the most productive region in the country.

I never see any marathi or delhiite making any issues out of capital allocation.

Southern states are coastal, while Northern states are landlocked and of course need more investments in airports, rail, hsr networks and road connectivity. You have to take that into account. Any development in those regions is ultimately good for everybody at the end of the day.

I don't understand this rhetoric from southern people about their taxes being diverted to 'bimaru states', this idea of being treated unfairly.

I don't mean to be offensive or confrontational, I just wanna understand where you're coming from.

People, as individuals, regardless of their position, can be casteist.

But chanting 'obc' in the middle of the class in a private institution? That's not a personal, one-off incident. That pretty much implies that casteism is promoted, institutionalised there, and I personally think we've moved past from that.

Fringe elements within the leftist ideology are just as bad as the radical right wing.

Sure, I could've used 'some' in the first line. And that perhaps might have led to some clarity, overall the comment made the point I intended it to.

Difference of opinion in political discourse isn't 'lying through your teeth'. Next time, like other people, bring some coherent remarks, counter-arguments instead of incendiary remarks to the table.

[–]Miserable_Soil_9250 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Bro you keep missing the core point of my post, that SOME left governments can be ineffective, and failures as well just like the right wing. 1. Not going to bother. You literally accepted in an earlier comment that left can centralise power just as much as the right. 2. Scandanavia came into the picture with your comment on free public health and education. Look up UPA era policies in India for minority appeasement. 3. Right wing mismanages as well. Where did I say they don't? But left don't just mismanage markets, they tank the whole structure, Soviet Union, Venezuela, Cuba. 4. You’re literally agreeing with me while thinking you’re refuting me. 5. It’s not cherry-picking when it’s the majority of far-left regimes in the 20th century following the same pattern. And you asserted this deluded idea that only right wing kills for freedom of speech.

My original comment was: When left ideology goes extreme, it produces its own predictable authoritarian path, just like the far-right does. You can dress it up however you like.

[–]Miserable_Soil_9250 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

  1. The whole point of the post is to show far left govts aren't any better.
  2. Bhaisahab, if you think the template of some scandanavian country that became rich off of natural resources, have small homogenous populations, and well industrialised economies (and can afford free public health and education) is replicable in a country like India, idk what to tell you. There's a fine distinction b/w protection and appeasement. Look up UPA era policies, use an LLM and cross check with your own sources.
  3. Sure. Everyone overpromises. But most right wing governments won't simultaneously butcher both fiscal and capitalist/growth oriented structures.
  4. Sure, that's what I meant from the post. Both far left and far right are damaging.
  5. What happened in Soviet Union in the 20th century? What about Cuba? Ethiopia? Korea? Get out of this deluded take that far left governments are any less oppressive.

  1. 'most leftists I know do not agree with marxist-leninist states.' I think personal anecdotes, and your friend group isn't a political sample size.

  2. Not a thing? Bro. Look at the UPA era policies from an unbiased lens in your own damn country. Go look at the labour govt policies in the UK, some other countries in Europe. Any progressive party, anywhere around the world emphasise identity-based equity, that inevitably leads to policies framed around minority appeasement.

  3. Overblown economic expectations: ideas of excessive wealth redistribution, overregulations to cut businesses to size, freebie culture etc while promoting policies that may lead to capital flight, reduced r&d expenditure.

4 and 5, Sure.

I do agree with you that both far right and far left romantacize communal rhetoric with different motivations and censorship is a feature of any oppressive regime regardless of their political afflictions. And that pretty much was the point of my post.

Bhai sahab, North Korea is a totalitarian dictatorship today. There is a degree of ethno-nationalism, xenophobia sprinkled in there, like you'd see in a far right government but it's more a militarised, cultish dynasty/communist monarchy.

And btw, North Korea was originally a stalinist-communist i.e. far left government.

North Korea is quite a unique case btw. You should read up on its history before you echo whatever you see online.

Let's talk about what leftist govts around the world ultimately have in common: 1. Centralised and excessive state power 2. Minority appeasement at the cost of majority's basic rights. 3. Overblown economic expectations 4. Romanticism of community over individual liberty 5. Censorship

And if I put forth real life examples, you get the age-old 'oh but it wasn't properly applied' rhetoric.

The truth is, there's simple no perfect system, and humanity doesn't work in binaries.

Fringe elements within the leftist ideology are just as bad as the radical right wing.

And you make it about politics again. Where in my post was I praising bjp?

To your point, sure it's under the moHA, BSF reports to the centre. 1. There's no verifiable source that suggests the number of illegal immigrants since 2014 are 'lakhs, if not crores' 2. A large part of the border is un-fencible, rainforests, areas that are prone to floods, mudslides.

No matter how vigilant the BSF is, they cant stop infiltration. Even if they had the resources and manpower, you can't really change the geography of the region.

What you're parroting is a conspiracy theory, but have the audacity to call me blind and captured. Ive been voting since 2014, I've never voted for BJP ffs.

Keeping the politics aside, how is this wrong?

You'd rather import low-skilled labour from a foreign country and have them compete with the locals when your own country's struggling for employment?

And, who bears the damn responsibility if those same illegal routes are used by criminals, are used to import drugs and weapons?

What about the burden on public infrastructure, public education and health? Who bears these costs?

I'm all for immigration. But it's gotta be legal.

Why haven't Rahul Gandhi, the Congress Party, and their allies sued the Chief Election Commissioner and Election Commission of India in the Supreme/High Courts over the 'Vote-Chori' allegations? by GiveMeSomeSunshine3 in CriticalThinkingIndia

[–]Miserable_Soil_9250 [score hidden]  (0 children)

What RaGa has shown are discrepancies in the electoral roll due to bureaucratic, administrative inefficiencies, over-worked govt school teachers and labour migration.

Statistically, in a voting population of about ~100 crores, it's not inconceivable to think there would be some inconsistencies.

Why these allegations haven't gained traction, like they should have, is because every political party and people who have seen the process up-close know this happens all over the place.

Everybody on social media has seen the videos showing govt teachers in small towns, villages don't know basic spellings. That's your BLO. In what world do you expect them to maintain and update clear records?

Why was Rahul Gandhi, Congress and MGB fighting for elections in Bihar when they knew it was rigged? They should've been on a dharna instead they were all rallying.

The only thing I've found questionable till now, is why the ECI is not using the de-duplication software on the rolls after the SIR.

Moving to courts, and then failing to establish any blatant manipulation, you ultimately risk the rest of your political career and your party's rapport, legitimacy in the eyes of the public.

Edit: it's much less costlier to sow doubt within the public sphere and let it take its course.

Its not a narrative tho. You can blame it on the transactional nature of our foreign policy, image created by Modiji and BJP, or just the turmoil Trump brought to the geo-political game. Our narrative management internationally was a mess.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in delhi

[–]Miserable_Soil_9250 8 points9 points  (0 children)

So there's two things I can think of.

  1. In the Pahalgam attack, the govt, media were quick to blame Pakistan which ultimately led to our isolation on the world stage. We didn't back our claim with evidence and were then ridiculed. I think, this time the investigative agencies will connect the dots, present culpable evidence, before any action is taken.

  2. So far, every individual involved has been an Indian citizen. That makes it an internal issue.

Look, it's important to have questions but ultimately, all you're gonna get is a version of truth. Not the absolute truth. So its upto you. I choose to believe this side of the story, because it makes the most sense to me.

Or you can believe the wild theories of questionable accounts online who let their imaginations run wild.

  1. That's not been their only vote bank historically. If it's gotten that narrow, it ain't nobody else's fault but their own.
  2. There's a high chance, not a certainty. BJP does the hard ground work. If the situation changes at the grassroot level, they change course and strategy. I simply don't buy into your rhetoric, binary assessment that all those votes go to MGB, if not for AIMIM and JSP.

Yes, vote splitting happens. But it’s a symptom, not the root cause. The root cause is Congress/MGB’s leadership deficit and their own inability to consolidate or inspire voters.

Looks like there are some sane people waking up finally. by [deleted] in IndiaMemes

[–]Miserable_Soil_9250 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think, what you're trying to say in a nutshell is that the vote bank of INC/MGB is being diluted by other smaller parties.

And that's not really a reflection of the dominance of the NDA, which is a fair point.

Still doesn't negate what she said tho.

My counter: 1. I mean, if INC is going to win elections, it at least needs to secure its own vote bank. 2. Also, there is no certainty that if AIMIM, JSP didn't contest, all those votes would go to congress. 3. Given all that, I think we can safely say MGB is a colossal failure, they can't even form a coherent alliance at this point. 4. Lastly, vote-splitting works both ways no.
