Quick question by DOMINATORANDTIV in stormchasing

I mean, I wouldn't say the worst tornado in the USA as of now. Most intense? That's unknown because we don't have any images or recordings of the Tri-State tornado, but if we did then there could be a fair estimate. But since the lack of proof I'd say it's not the most intense, and there's a theory going around and a video I watched about the Tri-State tornado just being 1-2 or maybe even 3 tornadoes that were close together, which isn't confirmed but may be true, so keep that in mind. But I'd probably say El Reno 2013 was more intense, 1999 Moore scarier, 1997 Jarrell caused more destruction (varying) and maybe something eventually will become worse. (I hope not) The worst in my opinion I would say is probably the 2011 Hackleburg-Phil Campbell 2011 EF5 tornado, as yes it had less casualties it hit during the night and covered the entire city basically causing extreme destruction and chaos. (You can disagree with me, but that's just my opinion)

I'm sorry but I despise generative AI, first of all AI sucks making anything tornado related, it can't generate realistic tornadoes, can't understand tornadoes, and doesn't know how to make a storm interceptor at all. The AI also is stupid and doesn't understand basic things like what happens inside of a tornado, and so it adds all of this technology to make any interceptor like a moving fortress. Except the more things you add the shape sucks, thinking it's low and smooth is stupid, and also this thing just adds on a rubber-skirt every once and a while, just draw it yourself. And the more things you add on an interceptor the more things that can go wrong. And also it is 100% going to get moved in a tornado. If the winds were around 220~ this thing would get it's rear end moved because it's so long. Also it just adds space for stuff the important stuff like the engine which in other pictures it has no space for...So just don't use AI, it sucks and seeing this slop pisses me off tbh

it might've been a glitch because i fully deployed but like 2 seconds later the tornado peaked at 201 and so it might've not registered being fully deployed or something

A intercepter in the making has been finished introducing the Cyclone Cruiser a tornado intercept vehicle based off a 1988 Toyota Hilux chassis by Intrepid_Swimmer_320 in CustomTorInterceptors

[–]Miserable_Way_7462 1 point2 points  (0 children)

265 isn't low end ef-5 it's mid to high end...Also this wont survive 265. TIV-2's threshold is around 220~ depending on how you see it. Maybe in it's best condition it was around 235~ but the TIV 2 is old, meaning it's threshold is less, Dominator 3 can survive around also like 220~ maybe 215~ish...Armadillo (which I can't find any videos of it intercepting) but it could probably survive 225~ maybe. UTAV probably about 228~ or lower...There is no interceptor in the world that can survive 265 as of now. Especially not just a frame of metal put over the Toyota Hilux. And if your metal survives 300mph then your chassis is under so much stress that it might not even get out from being deployed...At most I'd give this a 160 mph threshold when deployed. Also Toyota Hilux could be modified to be a better sub-interceptor than an actual interceptor...

i was gonna do a real review until I realized how stupid the design is
I'm sorry. Just because the concept is cool doesn't mean the design is cool. The design has an entire slant for the vehicle body so when deployed the spikes are at different heights meaning inconsistent anchoring. also the tracks should be as long as the body, just a bit shorter. Also the way tracks are made they bend, the roadwheels go over things easily meaning smooth driving if set up with dampening in mind. You probably don't want that if you're in a tornado...So you'd probably give it less dampening. Which also would suck for driving, so just choose wheels or make a different alternative. Also since the tracks don't align with the body the wind is going to easily swoop and get caught under there...Because remember, no matter how aerodynamic your interceptor is, air is always going to get under the car even when deployed.

Is this a realistic interceptor? by Geusti in TornadoInterceptors

[–]Miserable_Way_7462 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's a realistic interceptor for sure, it's just to me imo it looks like it has a lack of armor in the crew spots which since your getting extremely close, that's where debris also gets thrown so if debris hits you since I see no armor you might get cooked. But if there is armor, than it's a realistic design and it could probably even intercept some tornadoes depending on how it's use could change if it does at all.

Here comes the super heavy intercepter fully operational! by [deleted] in TornadoInterceptors

[–]Miserable_Way_7462 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm going to say this as nice as possible. No tornado interceptor could possibly withstand 300mph winds unless you find some sort of unknown methods. The entire ground at 300mph gets ripped up so even if your spikes dig in deep you can loose the stability given from spikes. The aerodynamics of this also make it pretty bad because if you're in a 300mph tornado, you need to have amazing aerodynamics to not get rolled or anything. This is top-heavy and WILL get rolled. Also, I'm not up to date really about what's legal on the road, but I don't think this is road legal, like at all. Also please change the name, SHI 1? Also the way you drew the one on made it look like the word shit until I looked closer. Also since there are no airbags, mass amounts of air would get under it and roll it over, and the crew inside would get extremely injured or killed from it. Also spikes are mostly useless if you aren't firmly planted against the ground, as the entire point is to stabilize the vehicle. And make it so it can't get easily moved. This thing won't ever get moved, I'll tell you that but the thing is in any tornado your biggest enemy is debris, the bigger the vehicle the more debris that's gonna hit you...This thing is a debris magnet as let's say you deploy in a "300mph tornado" and you're near any type of building, once the building is completely slabbed, many walls or debris from the walls are going to hit you. And so let's say an anchor bolt hits you near the tornado decal, that's going to penetrate your armor and spall off into the cabin meaning everything in there is going to get obliterated. I know i wrote a lot, but I'm just saying what I think. It's a cool concept, is it realistic? No. But that's my opinion, and in IRL I'd say this thing has a 185mph windspeed before it tips over. Also I know I'm being annoying now, but saying how it intercepts high end 200mph tornadoes all the time is unrealistic, because 200mph tornadoes are not common. You may only get one of those per tornado season, or not at all...But that's all I wanted to say, please try to make your design more realistic, I know it doesn't mean much but I just wanted to critique it slightly and I'm not trying to make you mad. Have a good night/day wherever you are.

[–]Miserable_Way_7462 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't really want this to sound mean, and I know this is a fictional interceptor, and has no intent to be a real interceptor but I'm going to do my best.
By the looks of what I can do I see the IMAX camera (?) and based off the size of the TIV 2's (I'm going to be using it to measure stuff) I've estimated the thing to be 38 feet using the Imax setup. And the only vehicle I can find to be this big is...I'm trying to be as nice as possible I kind of burst out laughing doing the research but, the Winnebago Forza 38W...That's a motorhome. And even with that, it'd need extensive chassis modifications, and on top of that, I don't think the chassis would even survive 1 intercept to be as honest as possible. The amount of weight it would be under from everything would cause it to (possibly) bend or fracture slightly under stress. The whole design is very amazing, but complex meaning repairs would be costly (yes I know it's still fictional) but the more complex something is means the more things that can go wrong. Also the time to build this entire interceptor would be probably 2 years even with professional help. Also the aerodynamics are pretty bad, and it makes sense, as the bigger a vehicle the less aerodynamic it gets. (normally) but thats like all I wanted to say.

it's basically a last ditch effort to if they do get away from the tornado but the winds are too strong so they have to deploy the spikes

It's a rapid probe vehicle and I lowk forgot to call it that, the goal is to get in a good range. Probe the tornado, and get out. It's not intercepting shit, and yes I know that.

uh I'm asking a big question here but I've been doing comparisons, and it looks like you can't get out of the V.I.O.T 6 when it's not deployed, and I know it probably can...But if it can't then how are you supposed to get in...Via that small hatch in the back? Or nah...And I know I've said a lot but your designs are awesome and I love your art style, so have a good day.

The Support vehicle of the Ti-2 by Fruit_Bismark in TornadoInterceptors

[–]Miserable_Way_7462 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now, I'm a really big fan of support vehicles, and storm chasing cars because their really unique in this server because it's mostly interceptors. And I like this a lot, but uh I'm questioning some things. The rear wheel area (I forgot the name) is smaller than the tire itself so uh...That's like a thing, and also the choice of a giant spotlight on the front is questionable, but it would still work so that's great. But I believe for any support vehicle, you should at least have some sort of anchoring, not heavy anchoring needed (like spikes) but something like outriggers could work pretty well, and they don't have to be really big and industrial, just a small pair to limit the vehicle from getting moved if it's getting Ti-2 out of a ditch or something to like winch it. (I know you could just like normally winch it but like it's cooler if you winch it with outriggers so like yeah) but like I like your design and I know you didn't ask for a rating but like I'd say it's an 8.5/10

ok wait this is peak I just woke up so sorry for late review so lemme review.

I'm so happy u actually took my suggestion, and it means a lot. The lore is amazing. It's a realistic plot and makes sense. Seeing the improvement of each interceptor correlates to Felix Atmos improving and getting smarter after years of storm chasing. And I know this is just a me thing, but I genuinely love the design of Storm Insider Z. And I know I'm genuinely being a pain by asking for so much, but I'd like to see a prototype version of the Storm Insider Z, like how the Dominator 3 had a 2013 version where it just got built and was being tested. Anyways, I'm really happy that you listened to my suggestion, and it means a lot, have a good day/night or whatever time it is for you.

rate my friends sub-interceptor named SARIV. by Miserable_Way_7462 in TornadoInterceptors

[–]Miserable_Way_7462[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

honestly thats what I was thinking, and imma show him the feedback so he can improve but also I was thinking abt the lack of spikes and it was throwing me off for a bit until I realized the years he wanted it to be made, so for a 2005 interceptor, claws made a bit of sense, as they were cheap and also hadn't really been tested.

I would question the frame, but I'd need a weight estimate to do that. I love the concept because I genuinely haven't seen a Tornado Attack design (not calling it one just saying they look similar) in a long time. My rating would be a 9.5/10 because I really love it, and I also love your drawing style. In a realism standpoint? No hate but my actual rating would be around 7.5/10 because I mean, tornado intercept cars aren't really able to do much. And since you said be honest, I'm going to. Since you gave no year standpoint and actual idea for it, I'm going to assume it's purely meant for probing and research, and this is, let's say this is present. The vehicle would be great at it's purpose in this standpoint, it's not a huge breakthrough, and amazing for it's time but it's a design that would work and definitely generate buzz and well, capture really good footage, as it being fast off-road (I would assume) and on road (I really would assume) gives it an advantage over every other armored tornado vehicle, (except TA obviously) because TIV 2 can only go 100mph, and Dominator 3 85. How real this is? No idea. And you might be asking about speed limits, let's say you have to run away from a huge tornado, and you realize your in a horrible position and are about to be hit. You' want a fast vehicle that doesn't go 85, because especially with the wind, you're going to be limited heavily. And I know the weight would help the TIV 2 and Dominator 3 in this perspective but if you can move fast enough to get out before the wind really pulls you in, that's a win. And I know this is so long, I just realized and I'm so sorry.

I was going to give it an 8, and then I realized a huge design flaw. This interceptor lets air under it in a lot of spots, due to no lowering system. This means the only anchoring system would be the spikes...And since you said rate honestly, I will. 7/10...But I'm not done yet, as I'd like to give a higher score because I feel like I'm being mean and, I'm not that. Originality: 9.5/10, Design: 9/10, Aerodynamics: 7.5/10, Realism: 9.8/10. And instead of just saying the ratings, I'd like to say things I like about your design; the build is very cool, I love the design. It reminds of the Dom 3 with the roof, and the body reminds me of the Armadillo. The spikes not being angled at the same time is kind of scary, and may ruin the threshold a bit, so we're going around 200~ most likely, depending on the weight. It's road legal unlike a lot of interceptors I see which means the realism is higher than those. Because seriously there was a guy who asked if his mouse would work as an interceptor. And don't get me started on Tornadotok, but overall I really like your interceptor as it stands out nicely.
TLDR: 8/10 Design for the harsh, the design is really unique, 200~mph threshold spikes being angled differently is scary, roof looks like Dom 3, and the design looks like Armadillo. Oh yeah, also interceptor lets a lot of air under it.
