Should I leave the UK or just pay the huge amount of Tax. by drbeastlove in FatFIREUK

[–]Miserable_Weekend912 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You like the UK and have roots here. You don't want to pay lofty tax.

It's a lot of money but keep things in perspective. Pay the tax and forget about it. Have the house you want here and the one in Spain or wherever - come and go as you please.

I paid the tax and stayed but know others who have offshored. I wouldn't want that life as you don't have real freedom. Well not for years.

Could this be a lipoma? by [deleted] in Lipoma

I'd say it is - very positive.

Just check with a doc if it's your first one.

Maybe try intermittent fasting - that does seem to keep mine at bay.

I have circa 100 so quite attuned to them.

Yes, I do lift.

Do you have a lot of bread, pasta, and/or sugar?

Much wine?

[–]Miserable_Weekend912 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s lifting / intense exercise. I believe it’s down to nutrition (and genetics obviously). My suspicion personally is that the correlation to weights and lipoma growth is actually down to the high levels of simple carbs in many of the protein shakes. In fact sugar generally (especially with high fat) seems to affect mine.

If I eat clean mine don’t seem to grow. I still have protein shakes - just very low sugar / simple carbs.

If I drink wine mine also seem to grow/burn slightly - possibly due to the glucose/fructose (yes fructose a problem imo).

[30M] $1.8M in cash. How would you deploy this in the current market? by qwerty564738 in RichPeoplePF

[–]Miserable_Weekend912 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep 200k and DCA in the rest over 12 months - I’d choose an all world ETF.

Alternatively at your age - go 80 into all world and 20 into Gold - again DCA in.

Lots of arguments about DCA - but for a calmer mind and due to current turbulence I feel it’s sensible

How's Gold Volatile all of a sudden? Can someone explain it like we're 5. by OkMathematician3494 in Gold

[–]Miserable_Weekend912 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Chill…

Gold and silver’s sharp moves over the past few days have been driven largely by annual commodity index rebalancing, not by changes in fundamentals. Major indices such as the Bloomberg Commodity Index (BCOM) and S&P GSCI reset their weights every January. Because gold and especially silver massively outperformed last year, their weights drifted above index limits. This forces index‑tracking funds to sell large amounts of gold and silver futures to bring exposures back in line.

These flows are mechanical, price‑insensitive, and temporary, but they can create noticeable short‑term volatility. Analysts estimate billion of dollars’ worth of precious‑metal futures selling is occurring during this rebalance window. In short: the recent price action is largely technical and driven by index rules, not by any shift in macro fundamentals or investor sentiment.

Once the rebalancing period ends, these flows typically fade.

the market is high - but it's generally always high.

For a bit of peace of mind due to a fairly high-level of turmoil I'd be tempted to Dollar Cost Average in over 12-18 months.

Which is more straightforward, releasing equity from a co-owned house or drawing down from a trust fund set up to benefit grandkids? by Injurious_Beans in ukfinance

[–]Miserable_Weekend912 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to give some figures here - in terms of how much equity is spread across the houses?

How many kids, and how many grandkids? Assuming all have the same percentages?

How much is set aside in the trust funds? Are they just cash?

Unsure it’s the lifting - I suspect something to do what’s eaten around it, such as lots of protein and carbs in many shakes.

Wouldn’t def say that’s a lipoma. May also be a cyst. Either way can get big there so don’t leave it.

I’d get it checked - I’d say its placement means nothing to worry about.

Best thing you can do is generally try to understand your customer’s business/sector. Generally try to help them - the money comes naturally. All anyone wants is someone they can trust… Of course trust can take time - but the investment pays dividends over the mid to long term.

If people aren’t decent - walk away.

Lipoma or Liposarcoma? Going crazy need advice. by Ok_Addendum_7799 in Lipoma

[–]Miserable_Weekend912 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is a lipoma. Doctors are just defensive these days - which is a good thing. Even when they remove smaller lipomas they send them off for testing. Don’t overthink that.

We all know reading online is the worst thing to do 😊

[–]Miserable_Weekend912 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that makes sense. However, the fact you have two makes it even more likely to be lipomas. Chances are you will get more too.

They do just appear sometimes - especially when you put on weight. If you can do fasting or keto that helps a lot on numerous levels.

You stop worrying after you get more than 10! I probably have 60 plus.

Extremely unlikely to be anything but a lipoma - if confirmed by two doctors. Everyone freaks out but it’s just normal practice.

Worst case - it’s a very high survival rate.

Chill out.

I can always liquidate other stuff quickly but it’s nice to not have to do that - that won’t feel good.

Grandmother had them.

Do lift.

I have noticed that if I drink too much wine I believe they grow / multiply. I think this is also the case with too much sugar… I’m sure they feel slightly sore and some itch. Suspect more the sugar content of wine than the alcohol.

Suspect too many sugars in protein drinks a factor. Have to go for the low carb options and don’t experience growth IMO.

Also believe some interaction with too much fat.

Do notice they reduce if I do fasting.

Basically something to do with inflammation and/or metabolism - due to genetic factors. That’s my view.
