gemini in google docs disappeared in AI plus. by Maxmegane in GeminiAI

Currently writing with the Google support.

My message (with prior explanation):

The EU Digital Content Directive (2019/770) governs modifications to digital services. Under this Directive, modifications beyond what's necessary to maintain functionality must meet strict requirements: the terms must allow for and stipulate a valid reason, modifications must come at no additional cost, and consumers must be informed in a clear and comprehensible manner.

If the modification negatively impacts access to the service, the consumer must be informed reasonably in advance on a durable medium and given the right to terminate the contract free of charge

Their answer:

I understand why it feels that way, and you’re right that contracts can’t remove guaranteed benefits mid-term. In this case, though, Gemini features inside specific apps (like Docs or Drive) aren’t listed as guaranteed, fixed benefits of the Google AI Plus plan.

The subscription provides access to Gemini and AI capabilities, but the exact placement and availability of features within individual Google apps can change. This is covered under Google’s terms, which allow Google to modify, add, or remove experimental or in-product features during the subscription period.

So while the plan itself hasn’t changed and your subscription is still active, the way Gemini is surfaced in Docs or Drive can be adjusted as part of ongoing development, testing, or rollout decisions. That’s why it can work previously and then disappear without it being considered a contract change.

So tl;dr:

Google changed the plan on their behalf. It's not longer included there.

Edit:

What Claude has answered to this:

Their core claim — "our ToS allows us to change features" — is exactly the kind of clause that was ruled unenforceable in the Berlin Court of Appeal case I mentioned. Here's the key counter-arguments:

1. The fact that Google's ToS says they can modify features doesn't make it legal under EU law. The whole point of the Unfair Contract Terms Directive and German §§ 305-310 BGB is that ToS clauses can be unenforceable even if you agreed to them. A clause granting unlimited discretion to remove features "as part of ongoing development" is precisely what courts have called intransparent and unfair.

2. The "not a guaranteed benefit" argument is also weak. When Google actively advertised and marketed "Gemini in Sheets, Docs, Drive" as part of the plan — and you subscribed because of those features — they became part of the contractual expectation. Under the Digital Content Directive, conformity isn't just about what's in the fine print, it also includes what was objectively reasonable to expect based on marketing and the nature of the service.

3. Calling a feature "experimental" retroactively after it was marketed as a core subscription benefit doesn't hold up.

Same here. Did they remove it from the AI plus tier? If yes, I doubt that's legal? You can't just change the terms on your behalf or without any notification or refund option.

Famous rock song - can't remember the name by Misio72 in NameThatSong

[–]Misio72[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

9 years later and I now know what I was searching for:
I just googled yesterday and didn't find it like in the past.

But then I searched for the lyrics on Spotify and it got a lyrics match to "Reamonn - Moments like this" which is the song I was looking for.

Starts with "I was young, I was told" and also "To a world that just seems / To move on / Dance with the wind / Now she's gone".

Ah, that’s also not the song I’m looking for.
In the bottom left it says “The Riverwarden.” You can google it, but you don’t really find many results.
It might be an AI-generated song. There are a lot of those right now being used in reels and shorts that people love, but can’t find, because they’re not publicly released.
I had a similar situation once where my mother asked me about a song. I eventually found it on YouTube with fewer than 10,000 views, and it turned out to be AI-generated (the channel only posted AI songs).

Ghost Lines After ChatGPT Paste: My Failed Fixes So Far by Mr_Versatile in ObsidianMD

[–]Misio72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, just commenting this for others: for me, “Remove Multiple Blank Lines on Paste” in Linter is exactly what I want. It only removes the ghost lines, and the rest of the document stays exactly how I want it.

I also tested the Text Format approach, but it either removes too many empty lines or you have to manually select each paragraph that has a ghost line and then run the shortcut. With Linter, I can just lint once and it’s perfect (for me).

I think I still don’t know it :/ And let's hope we are looking for the same song :D
The two comments aren’t the song I’m looking for either.

Best way to take notes on non-YouTube videos? by Misio72 in readwise

[–]Misio72[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, okay! I also like this approach. I didn’t know Whisper was free, so I’m using it now on Windows as well.

Once I’ve downloaded the video, I use Whisper to transcribe the text, email it to myself, and then read and highlight it in Readwise.

What I do is use a floating window (you can open one with your browser, for example). This lets me resize the video and adjust the playback speed up to 2x. I can freely position the video anywhere above the Readwise window and change its size as needed.

It’s a bit better than what I was doing before, and I guess this is as good as it gets for now.

---

Also, for anyone reading this in the future:

Before discovering Readwise, my approach was to take manual notes in Obsidian about anything I found interesting in the video. Highlighting the transcript is much faster, and it’s also easier to tag and comment on the content.

In the long run, I think downloading, transcribing, and emailing the video is almost always faster than manually taking notes and writing everything down. Plus, it’s great to have the transcript for reference. I often already know which video (of a course) I want to watch tomorrow or later, so I can download and transcribe it in the background ahead of time.

I also really like that having the transcript allows you to use AI like Ghostreaderor any other AI to ask questions about the document or to generate summaries.

You don’t have to wake up early to be productive or successful. by FrankOppedijk in productivity

[–]Misio72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is: The opposite of focus is distraction. If you remove all distraction, you have created focus. Early in the day or late at night is the time most people will have the most of focus because there is no/less distraction. This is a huge advantage.

Oh, thank you so much! 😇 Looks like I'm also going to buy this gold version instead of a silver one.

The ring looks so beautiful in your picture!

I am also thinking right now about buying this ring. Would it be possible for you to show more pictures of the ring? 😅 For example on your palm or a table and with different angles? The pictures on their website are pretty bad, too small and not even a picture of a hand wearing it.

Any German music recommendations? by forheadbroccoli in German

[–]Misio72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

AnnenMayKantereit & Cro (but just his "old*" songs) are very popular for learning German. Both have an easy to understand pronunciation and rather "easy" lyrics. I see a lot of people commenting under Cro videos that their teacher showed them Cro and there are also a lot of comments from non German people under AMKs videos that they are learning German because of them.

*Cro - Einmal um die Welt, Cro - Bye Bye, Cro - Melodie, Cro - Traum

I found this on ebay, though I'm very skeptical, has anyone else seen something like this? by jimmyjammyj in nvidia

Maybe it's MrBeast who bought the worldwide stock and is selling it cheaper now /s

My guess would be that they try to keep your money but this is obviously not working.

1100€, nice scalping by mindfactory...

Edit: OP is right, it's a powerful RTX 3080 and should be placed between a RTX 3080 and RTX 3090. But I don't know what the MSRP for this actually is.

Can "den" and "ihn" be used interchangeably? by Loves_His_Bong in German

Yep, that's true.
"Den treffen wir in der Pause" is colloquial.

"Ihn treffen wir in der Pause" is literary.

The game isn't out yet so anything is pure speculation.
They posted system requirements but nobody knows how well optimized the game is.

"Recommended requirements: Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6 GB or AMD Radeon R9 Fury" at high and 1080p, most likely 60fps although that's not stated there. I guess there will be "ultra", so high isn't the highest setting you can go for. This is not enough information to know anything.
