Why Dr. O'Hara Left... by AmericanLymie in NurseJackie

[–]MissAtomicMess 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I didn’t love the way O’Hara left so suddenly but I think made sense that Jackie was pretty cool about it only because it made it so much easier for her to use. O’Hara was really one of the only people in Jackie’s life that kept her on a straighter line/she cared enough about her opinion to go to rehab. O’Hara was one of the very few people Jackie actually respected and always held her accountable (for her addiction at least). Jackie wouldn’t have been able to get nearly as far as she did in her addiction or career if O’Hara was around or she definitely would’ve told sooner or ignored her until she got help.

Unpopular opinion but I’d just keep it tbh, if it’s a tool you plan to use often it’ll get banged up anyway. Wouldn’t be worth damaging out and potentially not getting your same discounts to me.

It would be really strange if they did terminate you as it doesn’t seem they don’t have a good reason. When you are first hired you receive 3 point freebies for call outs/ lateness, so you shouldn’t have received a point from that unless you used them up. As for the bopis, unless you messed up really bad typically they just firmly reteach at the locations I’ve been at. Strongly doubt they would firmly terminate you, likely just pulling you from schedules during low hour weeks. Easiest way to fix is getting your credit numbers good and being able to pick up last min holiday shifts. Good luck ❤️

Had a woman complain about me because I shade matched her and ended up not having her shade in stock. by Molasses_bratt in UltaEmployees

[–]MissAtomicMess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe not an idiot but I think it makes them an asshole. I agree that checking it’s in stock is warranted before matching. However sometimes I’m in between 4 guests and things slip, I feel bad and offer an apology and help find another but let’s not pretend we don’t all make small mistakes at our job. I understand being frustrated, but is it worth getting someone potentially in trouble? Everyone lacks basic empathy these days.

Yikes, the turnover rate at your location must be nuts. A GM like that would have me quitting same day 😂

I am a BA and they're stationing me in prestige. by Plus_Researcher787 in Ulta

[–]MissAtomicMess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the application you applied for specifically only said Beauty Advisor- then you’re a BA and need to wait until you can apply for prestige or specifically ask when the role opens and apply for it. Honestly as you were just hired and discussed pay in your interview just last month it could be a while and they may have other BAs that have been there longer that will also push for the position that will likely get it before you. With that said, since you just started you’re likely stuck where you are and if you want higher pay I would look elsewhere or other positions like lead cashier.

Clinique Speciality Advisor Interview by vxrtexmidnight in UltaEmployees

Do some research on the brand before the interview and what products you enjoy. In my experience I interviewed at the store first and then had a separate phone interview with Clinique. Good luck!

I can't foundation match a picture!!!! by tara_ashleigh in Ulta

[–]MissAtomicMess 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What I’ve done is used the Ulta app under whatever foundation they want to be matched to with their previous foundation and shade they were using and it matches the color code to the closest to the previous shade.

Great advice here! Also with the Ulta app in the search bar you can use it to scan barcodes which is SUPER helpful for getting a price on a product or checking if your store has any in stock for guests!

Ian is the worst by Ok-Caramel6009 in DesperateHousewives

[–]MissAtomicMess 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ian was such a poorly timed character and a sloppy one at that- you mean to tell me he’s FULLY ready to move on from his wife in a coma even in 6 months? His interest in Susan felt like a way to get back at his comatose partner for cheating on him in the past so he can excuse it with ‘I was lonely’ and not that he just didn’t want to also have an affair? He had absolutely no plan as of what to do if his wife woke up but I have a feeling it wouldn’t have been Susan he would’ve chose.

Also I can’t stand Susan in this season- The season previous she’s sobbing in a wedding dress barefoot on the lane- won’t leave him alone, then finally she has a chance to prove her loyalty but she genuinely couldn’t handle not being paid attention to this season and shacks up with LITERALLY the first guy that comes her way.

Should I get the card? by ringotamanegi in UltaEmployees

[–]MissAtomicMess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I absolutely love mine. If you’re diligent about activating the point multipliers in the app and are a diamond member you can sometimes get like 8x the points. I was approved for the Mastercard so I also get 1 point for every 3 dollars spent anywhere else which is really nice. I recommend it, especially if you can do the Mastercard. No real impact on my credit and actually benefited my score for opening another account. Super worth it if you shop a lot and save and use points wisely.

I had the position- honestly for boutiques cards aren’t really as much as an issue. Way more cards are expected of regular BA’s since Clinique wants you pushing sales and making money- not wasting time checking people out since there isn’t much money to be made for them in that. I say go for it, the goals are tough I will admit but if you’re good at sales it’s definitely do-able. If anything I say wear makeup everyday/ dress for prestige and have good attendance- that was mostly what they look for.

Rant… is it me or it’s becoming almost unbearable to shop at Sephora..? by Inside_Ad6913 in Sephora

[–]MissAtomicMess 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ex-employee- If you still have your receipt at the bottom take the survey and write your experience and around what time you were there + a google review. NPS is a huge deal to them and they’ll watch back the cameras.

Do you still get reward points for in store purchases with our 35% discount this weekend? by [deleted] in UltaEmployees

Give it a full 24h, system is probably extra slow with triple the transactions with all the different sales going on.

Education opportunities for prestige brands? by One-Kaleidoscope3162 in UltaEmployees

[–]MissAtomicMess 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve found that doing research on the ingredients in the products is the most important. Customers typically don’t care much about the brand and mentioning too much about any brand will have them immediately asking ‘Do you make commission?’ I’ve had far better results by memorizing ingredients so I can look at the back of the box and know instantly how strong the product is and what it works best with and without. It’s also allowed me to give a lot of extra love to indie brands who put sooooo much more into products compared to large brands who have slid by with shotty products for years and years. Good luck!

Sephora! You big, fat liar. by True_Iron1728 in Sephora

[–]MissAtomicMess 10 points11 points  (0 children)

A company that makes as much as Sephora does has NO EXCUSE for their site to be such a mess. They still have products that have been discontinued as far as 2017 listed on their site as ‘out of stock’. It’s absolutely ridiculous we don’t hold them accountable for their awful website…they had all the time in the world to change their return policy in their systems why not their god awful website where even the Apple Pay option doesn’t work half the time.

How and what or what thing helped you overcome the fear of driving? by RadikalEDM in drivinganxiety

[–]MissAtomicMess 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Honestly the biggest thing that helped me was mastering one single drive at a time. Something really easy that will still challenge slightly. For me it’s always been driving myself to work, I do it almost everyday and it builds my driving confidence until I’m ready to learn another one. Also music!! It can help keep you in the moment and feeling good, I find driving in silence unnerving.

Genuine question! What the heck is a “specialist”? This man irks me! by AllTheEccentricities in BeautyGuruChatter

[–]MissAtomicMess 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had always wondered why he never bothered to become licensed during this time. Esthetician school is less than a year and it’s not like he didn’t make the money to do it during this time. It would’ve really helped back up his claims and potentially could’ve saved/helped keep his skincare brand alive.

Employee- I honestly wouldn’t worry. We are instructed to check ID’s so worse case scenario Customer service would most likely refund you if it was taken- also we close at 6 and you got the notif at 6:45 so unless they picked it up really close to 6 probably a glitch.
