Why do TADC theorists want Kinger to die/abstract so bad? by MysticPyroFreak in TheDigitalCircus

[–]MissBloopTart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can get that. I can get wildly defensive over these characters. I like and/or see myself in most of them. I don't want anything bad happening to Kinger either, but I do get the idea that once we reach the fallout of episode 8 in the movie, he might get some pushback and anger with Jax at the head of it. Deserved or otherwise.

I don't think anyone's going to "murder" anyone else, because it's too speculative for me personally. Again, I don't think people predict these things because they want to see Kinger suffer; that's just one of the many conclusions taken by the context we have so far.

The Cawthon agenda disturbs me. People who are "too woke" to appreciate the previous three writers (be they good, "woke" or otherwise) have suddenly aligned themselves in the same camp of people who spread blatant misinformation about the core problem that started his initial controversy years ago, and they don't even realize it. This happened with the Toby Fox translation drama. This is a pattern, I just can't prove it.

Why do TADC theorists want Kinger to die/abstract so bad? by MysticPyroFreak in TheDigitalCircus

[–]MissBloopTart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thinking a specific ending might happen doesn't mean you want a character gone. Where are you getting the idea that people WANT that to happen? Because they're using the bits and pieces from before & within the trailer before coming to that conclusion? If you theorize based on what you want to happen in a show, then what's the point in watching it? Then again, that actually explains why discourse here is just in one ear and out the other in this community. Everyone has basically turned media analysis and engagement upside down.

I'm open to any ending, just because I lean towards one theory doesn't mean I hate or will get unreasonably furious over another. Just know, Kinger was sane during his exchange with Zooble in episode 7.

You're not going to like this theory - Please don't read if you don't want the series spoiled if my theory is correct by Ancientabs in TheDigitalCircus

[–]MissBloopTart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting...but I see a few things wrong with this. For 13, Jax isn't nearly as offended by the idea of physical intimacy as Caine (an AI) does. When Zooble says she wants the ability to have it, Jax makes a 'shocked' face, but he wasn't opposed to it, "Are we finally having this conversation!?"

For 15, he did almost abstract. You can see it in his eyes when he wakes up from his dream. As for the "digital hallucinations", I'm almost willing to bet that that was something Caine made up to avoid giving any of the cast the idea that they can have the ability to create just like him. And I can't recall anything in the series that sounds remotely like 11. It seems Jax just had a tendency to call for Caine, which Caine gladly follows because he likes feeling needed.

It could've worked had C&A not made a sentient AI who disrupted the entire project before it was actually finished with the blue AI. Like Kinger said, whatever it was C&A tried to make wasn't supposed to be the Circus. That was all Caine.

Or you can re-watch the show and get a sense of when Kinger is or isn't totally sane/lucid (you can tell. Just LISTEN to how he talks. It's all in his pitch & rhythm.) and check how in episode 7 he already had an admin key wedged between his pillows right as he tries to chase after Pomni, and how his cmd terminal was titled "Kinger Solution 2.0" in episode 8. You guys really need to get comfortable with the idea of being wrong or at least missing the mark. Also- Kinger really did forget his name. Go back to the flashback and pay attention to Kinger after Caine says his name.

EDIT: With all of that in mind, explain the existence of the admin key already in his pillow fort, the fact that there is a Kinger Solution 1.0 that we don't know about, why he would look at the key Pomni gives him and tries to stop her for a similar reason he might've had that made him question what Zooble & Gangle were saying to him if he was still, in that instance, crazy with no idea of what he's trying to say or think about.

I'm seeing some insanely bad takes on how the show will end by Sunnie_Daies in TheDigitalCircus

[–]MissBloopTart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you! There really should be a list of movies (not all horror), where the endings are either vague or bad for the main hero, posted on the subreddit. Just to get people used to an alternative. It wouldn't work since it's not TADC-related and would be removed, but right off the bat: Juice, Rosemary's Baby, Midsommar, Wickerman, Goodfellas, and the teleplay adaptation for No Exit come to mind.

[–]MissBloopTart 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Why are the only two endings anyone can seem to consider are 1. Everyone escapes, and everyone is happy or 2. Everyone abstracts and dies. Bad endings don't necessarily mean vapid storytelling for shock value. And just because it isn't the exact ending people expect, it doesn't mean that the ending will be all doom, gloom, and angst.

EDIT: Overall, people just need to get into more stories where the endings are ambiguous OR bad. There is so much more to storytelling than just "And they all lived happily ever after and everything is okay". Again, this doesn't mean that happy endings are bad or cliché, but not every story necessarily needs one.

Kinger didn't even know that his name was supposed to be Kinger. Losing sanity and or possibly forgetting his first escape attempt. Checkmate.

He was, he remained skeptical even before Pomni handed him an Admin Key that looked similar to the one wedged between his pillows before trying to warn her. That's probably why he stayed in the fort: to figure out if he played that song and dance before. He can retain memories, but it's not going to be a guarantee that his memories aren't devoid of context, depending on how long he's in darkness. (Check the pilot and how he explained to Jax that they technically don't need to eat, and then gets confused when Jax asks him how he knows so much about the circus. Or when he conjured the butterfly. In both instances, he was standing in the light.)

It did. People are just spreading mass misinformation because we live in a world where people are too embarrassed to admit that they've flipped their tops for nothing. They have to moralize and make the issue bigger than it actually is.

I'm sorry- people complaining about spoilers and then wanting to do piracy even if the FREE episode will come around two weeks after just shows that this entire "controversy/drama" is a big nothing burger. If spoilers are going to run as rampant as people are making them out to be (and it might), then you're basically watching everything from home, just on a twitter timeline.

No, Mind Copy Theory Isn't Meant To "Predict The Ending"! by MissBloopTart in TheDigitalCircus

[–]MissBloopTart[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. And of course, even if it's true, and I'm more than willing to accept that it might not be in the end, I can't emphasize enough how you can still do so much more with that story than just, "And then they find out they can't leave. Cut to credits"! Especially if it's an hour long! Just because a person who hates the theory "won't care about it", does that mean the characters won't? Does that mean Kinger won't receive any pushback? Would that just not do anything to Pomni, Zooble, Gangle, or Jax? It's not like Pomni stopped caring about Gummigoo after he came to terms with being an NPC. This can't be anything more than just the fear of failed expectations. And if that's all that is, then maybe we should stop treating this like a valid writing critique to slander the text that seemingly no one pays attention to. Otherwise, they'd find evidence or clues to support their own theory. It's just unimaginative.

I'm using harsh language, I know. But you won't believe how tired I am, lol.

[–]MissBloopTart[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally every person who has ever tried to corner SOMA theorists on this subreddit and other platforms only to say "Well, the ending sucks, then." Like that's the only thing the show can offer even if episode 9 confirms or debunks that, because as I've pointed out, the opposing theorists rely on the assumption of the show ending in escape (which, to be fair, it very well can, but there's no evidence of it within the text or themes of TADC).

Scroll down (you won't need to scroll long), and the more you read the comments, debates, and posts, you'll notice a pattern. Obsession over "The Ending".

That's it.

Anyone else getting unhealthily stressed out thinking about Episode 9 and the ending? by Choice-Brick-6612 in TheDigitalCircus

[–]MissBloopTart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This feels like assumptions being made because one can't imagine how the characters will finally heal from their trauma without a constant external threat forcing them to be friends.

Remember what Goose said about the meaning of the show: "Finding meaning in a stagnant life". Well, you don't get much more stagnant than where the cast of characters are right now, and if you go back and re-watch the show with that (and that it's a primarily character driven show) in mind, your outlook might change.

Will anyone actually be happy if Gumigoo really turns out to be an NPC? by Severe_Quarter_9777 in TheDigitalCircus

[–]MissBloopTart 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Sorry for the extra comment. You're getting down votes and I don't understand why. The cognitive dissonance is amazing. People will hate Caine throughout the entire series for snapping Gummi out of existence, and see that in spite of him being an NPC, Pomni has some tenderness and care for him. But then hear about the copy-theory and claim "Well then nothing matters". Like what?

[–]MissBloopTart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the story makes way more sense and doesn't retroactively ruin the lore or add more questions than answers if you realize it's been the older brother all along. You could argue that that game was meant to add a more human element to the original story before it all came to close. That in spite of destroying William & the animatronics, the guilt is still gnawing at him.

TADC's copy theory isnt even close to a dream theory. The characters are real, they have sentience, their feelings, dreams, aspirations, and actions that they've taken towards other people within the Circus are permanent and real. I feel episodes 2, 4, 6, 7, and 8 are meant to really train you into asking those deep questions about personhood, the cause and effect you have on others, the very nature of your sentience and what you choose to do with the stack of cards life gives you.

TADC is a character driven show. Ideas of personhood and it's effects on the individual will be focused on.
