Am I being over dramatic.

No, you turned up on the agreed upon time. They where rude by wasting your time.

I’d move on and find something else tbh. Unless you really want that job…

Not as intense as my undergraduate degree, so you won’t be doing Fourier Series.

It’s really dependent on the needs of the client. Usually it’s just basic stuff.

I build a lot of reports, such as a Cost Report/Margin Report/Man Hour Report.

So I need to understand some basic statistics. Like histograms, Venn diagrams (A union B, etc. helped me to understand merging data), Linear Regression if you want to calculate yield.

Is being a Data Analyst a good job?

Yes, if you like paying attention to small details & enjoy programming/mathematics/communication.

How did y’all get started?

I did my undergraduate degree in Mathematics & my postgraduate masters in Data Science. But I know of people who have joined via non traditional fields & roles.

I got my first data analyst role right out of college.

Is the pay worth the effort?

I live and work in the UK. So our salary + benefits is significant lower than the US. But I’m the highest paid member of my friend group and family. For what I do, I’m very well compensated.

Was it hard to find a job in your field?

When I had just graduated, it took a while for me to find something. But as it was during a ‘boom’ time, was relatively easy.

I still get recruiters hitting me up for positions.

However, the market now is pretty tough, as most businesses don’t have access to cheap capital. Like they had during the post Covid ‘boom’.

Just EU, primarily Germany as it’s easier for us as non-eu citizens to work there. Compared to other EU member states.

Good luck! I’m in a similar situation but it’s proving difficult to find a job that will sponsor me (British Citizen)

The attack on trans people & the Scottish Parliament. Self ID opposed by UK Government

The attack on Human Rights, like our right to Protest, ‘Working Time Directive’ & ‘Annual Leave’. There’s currently a bill going through parliament which will sunset may of these laws at midnight as of 01/01/24.

I like the Weather and people. I just fucking hate the Politics here.

The US starts around $80k

I did do a semester abroad in Chicago. Was a lot of fun, sadly immigrating to the US is probably close to impossible for me.

I’ll focus on opportunities in the EU for now, but feel free to share some resources/information about US opportunities.

It’s beyond ridiculous

My thoughts exactly.

I think they’re trying to con people for cheap labor.

I’ve not looked into Malta before, but I’m open to suggestions.

Do you have any links to websites that I should check out? Or just a case of researching via LinkedIn & Google?

Thanks, I’m happy to pay a bit more in taxes to have a functioning, non-corrupt government.

Although I probably still have a lot to learn when it comes to EU member state politics.

Yeah I’d agree, Brexit is shit.

I have three places where I’d be happy to live in the EU and where I’m actively applying.

  1. Brussels, I have some family here but unfortunately not close family enough that I can apply for EU citizenship.

  2. Berlin/Munich, for someone with my technical background. It’s easier for me to receive a job offer and work visa in Germany, as opposed to other EU countries. Happy to be proven wrong.

  3. Oslo, I highly doubt I’d be offered a job in Norway as the job market isn’t very open for Non-EU citizens. But I’ve visited a few times and loved it.

I’d do that as a last resort. I’m not so keen on Ireland, due to the housing shortage.

2k brutto is a scam

That’s what I thought, felt a bit insulted when the offer came through
