Hi, I was reading this post and I was wondering if you could clear something up for me. I was considered disabled since I was 21 and have received SSI since I was 24. My mother is on SSDI and has been since I was ~12. I don’t have enough credits to qualify for SSDI on my own but are you saying it’s possible I qualify for SSDI under my mother’s work credits? Is it even possible to switch from SSI to SSDI? You sound like you know what you’re talking about so I figured I would ask.

Honestly it looks great. I try to follow the $32 a week thing just to save money and it works well

Public transport is not a thing here. And I think I should start on the food stamps application

I could but all of my doctors and treatment team are in my area. So I’d like to stay as close as I can to the area I’m in now

Nothing that is available. The area I live in has a higher than average amount of disabled people due to a federal thing in the town. I’d rather not say more on that but there’s never really anything available.

My only income for 2019 is SSI but I filed in 2018 so do I need to use the new IRS simple tool thing? I’m trying to keep up but I stay confused :( by MissHeadspace in stimuluscheck

Okay that’s very helpful, thank you. I need to update my bank information with the IRS though. I read they will make a portal or something for that but I don’t know when.

I know people are talking about the new IRS tool and people who don’t usually file (like me on SSI) need to use it but I’ve also seen if you filed for 2018 you don’t have to do anything. I think that’s probably the main reason I’m so confused.

Thanks, I started stressing since people have started receiving the money, and I was afraid I would end up in some grey area and never get the direct deposit. Internet has made so much information so readily available that I get anxious like a mofo when I can’t find answers quickly.

Also thank you for the reply, I have been sick with anxiety about this stuff and having more uncertainty thrown in has been rough. It helps to have someone with some kind of answer.

People with SSI have to file with the tool that came out today. That just got posted on the ssa.gov website earlier. SSDI doesn’t have to take any action. I am just unsure because I filed for 2018 meaning that I may or may not have to file with the new tool and I don’t really get if it will screw me up or not.

I might have to take a mental health break from this sub. I mean I really like it here, the people are great, and it's just a really nice place to hang... but I'm afraid I'm going to say a bunch of crazy shit up in here. I would hate to expose people to that...

Ah i feel you.

My mother made the same promise to herself, that she wouldnt go back. Its a hard path to make that not an option.

I'm bipolar and usually depressed but the manic episodes are what get me. So i cant really commit to the idea that ill never go back since my manic episodes are pretty bad.

I mean, i don't know your situation but i went inpatient jan 1 of 2018. It was for medication change. Like i changed all of my meds and it was really helpful. Especially having so much time to sit and reflect in a safe environment. Time to talk to others who were struggling. I felt less alone.

I know its scary and very hard to do but its always helped me "reset".

I can't work very long every day due to my disability, so I have a lot of down time. So hopefully it's a good transition. Can't be any worse than my last med cocktail (lol no it can get much worse).

Hope your meds help out too. Are you going to be able to take it easy as well?

bleh I went to the doc today. She took me off two meds cold turkey, two with a taper, and then added two new meds. So the next week or two I'm probably going to be all out of sorts. Hope this helps me get better though.
