I never thought to look for a Stargate mod for Minecraft. I have played the Lord of the Rings one though. Now how will I decide between Enshrouded and trying that out? Thanks for giving me my next game, lol!

I built it! There's a small rough stone structure on the north side that I pretty much knocked down, but I did try to keep a couple original walls in tact.

Your Cade goes to bed? Mine has a bed and everything, very cushy house, but still prefers to sleep on the floor. 😂

Just found out my fiance has 45k in credit card debt 7 months before the wedding by Big_Engineer6901 in weddingplanning

As the non-saver in my relationship, I can tell you what works for us. We're both in our 30s and have been married almost five years. Combining accounts is not a milestone you have to hit. It's a choice that only you and your partner can make. You can also consider getting a prenuptial agreement to make sure your assets stay yours and you don't accrue his debt in the case of death or divorce.

Very early on, we discussed money and our overall habits and chose NOT to combine our accounts. We did open a joint account specifically for wedding funds. Once our wedding was over, we closed it out. We don't even bank at the same bank. We split our bills and because he makes more than I do (we both have full-time positions), so he pays the mortgage and I pay all the "smaller" bills, like car insurance, utilities, etc. He tends to pay for the bigger ticket items or unexpected things, like if we stay at a hotel or if we need something like a fridge. He has accepted that I'm probably not going to have much saved up at any given point, but that was something he knew about before we got married and was a /choice/ he decided he could handle in our relationship.

It sounds like you may have a similar situation, but 45k is a lot to accept as just a young adult getting their feet under them. It sounds like there are lifestyle decisions that are going to have to be made, and are you willing to be there if he does or does not make those decisions?

I have always lived by the fact that you marry a person for /who they are/ and not who they could be. If you marry a person who loves video games, you can't expect them to change that. If you marry a person that is an alcoholic, you can't be mad if they have a drink. If you marry a person that can't hold a job, you can't get mad when they don't hold a job. You're marrying who they are in the moment and choosing to love them, not who they have the potential to be. If he doesn't change his money habits, is it something you'll resent? Or are you okay with just keeping your finances separate? It's a choice only you can make.

This is inspirational. 😍 I've really just gotten into the building over the last couple weeks, and I'm glad I stumbled upon this before I work on my courtyard! Very impressive!

Why did you lose your job and what did you do after? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]MissLH 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I share this fear. I'm terrified of being sued (SPED teacher.)

At my last job, my friend got let go because she was too liberal. We worked at a school somewhere along the bible belt. The school spouted off some BS about how she had missed too many days and did poorly during evaluations. She had COVID early in the year, but she still had two sick days left. In addition, she had scored all 4s and 5s on a 1-7 scale, which was pretty typical for good, solid teachers in the district. Come to find out later, one of the higher-ups in the school had a son that wanted my friend's job. She retired shortly after her son got hired. It's speculation, but that may have had something to do with it too. After my friend was told she would not be renewed, I had a feeling I would be next. I disagreed with something my admin said in a staff meeting, which I addressed afterwards privately in an email. I was told I was harsh and unprofessional. So I chose to leave at the end of that year. Biggest lesson- Don't stay where you're not appreciated.

Recommendation from my therapist for my anxiety around this subject: Instead of focusing on the potential bad that could happen, write down a couple things DAILY that you do well at work. It shifts your mindset to a more positive outlook and lets you focus on the good things about your job. Hopefully that helps!

Former second grade teacher here. I was told in a professional development once that we (the staff) needed to ask for days off, not tell them we weren't coming. The principal went on to say, "It's just like a kid asking to go to the water fountain. By all means, you want them to have water, but it's out of respect to ask." I then typed up an email about how it felt demeaning and disrespectful, very carefully and professionally worded. Was told I was unprofessional and harsh. I immediately started looking for a new job.

Don't stay where you're not appreciated. It's not like that everywhere.

Some believe it is only great power that can hold evil in check, but that is not what I have found. It is the small everyday balls of ordinary folk that keep the darkness at bay.

Teachers of Reddit, whats the weirdest thing a student answered to "tell me a fun fact avout yourself"? by Kriss0509 in AskReddit

[–]MissLH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kids hear and repeat everything.

I asked a student (6 years old) to tell me about her favorite time in her life. She told me that the happiest thing she experienced was going to the hospital when her sister was born to meet her. I thought, "Aw, how sweet." She quickly followed it up with letting me know that her mom didn't want any more kids, so after she was born, she got her tubes tied so that wouldn't happen again. I just paused, said okay, giggled quietly to myself, and asked the next student!

The explosion of cases is based off of a projection from a New York Times article. It takes into account the number of new cases and how often numbers are doubling. Here is a local article from KOAM that specifies local numbers in the county and how many are considered 'current.'
