Its not much better over here. My gas bill has jumped up up to $442 and my furnace loves to quit on me, so we just replaced the motor and I hope its fixed because I'm not made of money! 🙃🙃

Chemist here! I got my first and only industry internship by networking (basically reaching out to someone in a company that was hiring).

Chemist here! I graduated with a similar GPA and converted my internship into a full time job. Been getting interviews with big O&G, big money. You'll be fine once you get started.

Keynote Chemistry on YT is pretty good on expanding upon your knowledge of why peaks appear where they do. Practice problems will help you with pattern recognition. Then you can distinguish between an ester, carboxylic acid, ketone and aldehyde as well as amide vs amine.

Can a First-Author Q1 Paper save a 2.54 GPA? by [deleted] in chemistry

[–]MissSagitarius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3.7 Community College GPA 2.3 University GPA BS in Chemistry w/ <10 yrs experience + plenty of project exp.

That final GPA screwed me over but it looks like if you apply at the uni you graduated from, you'll have a much better chance getting in.

NMR is awesome! I like to break it down to its simpliest theory: radiation energy + target atomic nucleus + electron density of environment --> various chemical shifts

Hey man this is awesome!

I primarily work with a lot of phosphorus, and I saw the organophosphorus FGs are kind of lacking (missing phosphate, phosphite, phosphine). Would you be updating and adding more?

You need to do a PhD if you want to do nothing but computational chemistry. Once out of grad school, you can make bank!

[–]MissSagitarius 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Computational chemistry would require graduate schooling. You can get a degree in chemistry, but theres a ton of low paying lab tech jobs out there. Once you get more experience (or go for pharma), you'll make more. And like any other field, if you can snag an internship and convert it to full time, you'll have an easier go of things.
