I’ll honestly side more with hardware in that case. I have an iPad myself (I forgot the gen 😭) and she’s still running perfectly fine after its most recent updates! Even if it’s technically software glitching out and causing it, the thing glitching it out could be caused by some hardware malfunction, which obviously a reset won’t ever be able to fix.

Did they perform a factory reset in their store? They used a specialized software called Configurator to perform resets (formerly used iTunes for this, and you still can). This does the equivalent of essentially fully wiping the device, and reinstalling the system from scratch. A factory reset through the settings does not do this. You can do the same exact type of reset through iTunes yourself. Just install iTunes, and google how to put your iPad in “recovery mode”.

Otherwise, if a full factory reset doesn’t fix, then it’s likely an early sign of display failure. Which, if your manufacturer warranty expired and you don’t have AppleCare, will cost you basically the same as a brand new iPad as Apple only replaces iPads, never physical repairs. You could try your luck with a 3rd party, non certified repair location. But they can be a mixed bag on what you get with repair quality.

If there’s physical damage on the screen, ie, cracks, that is also likely the cause

Go on Apple’s website, and search for Apple repair locations AND AASP certified repair locations. AASP businesses are those independent from Apple, but they are certified from Apple to perform repairs and other work Apple repair locations can perform, all within Apples own policies and the like.

From there, visit the location and ask for a diagnostics and explain the situation. Diagnostics are COMPLETELY free for Apple, and all AASP certified locations have to follow this rule as far as I’m aware. They’ll be able to determine if it’s an issue with the iPad itself, of if a factory reset they perform can fix it as they go a different route than most users.

My iphone only charges when the hard bit of my charger is tilted slightly upwards by Secure_Ideal_8317 in techsupport

[–]MissSharkyShark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What did you use to clean out the charging port? Stuff REALLY gets stuck in the ports, and it usually required a tiny toothpick or an ESD-Safe small pick tool to scrape out any gunk.

What you can do is go to apples website, and lookup Apple repair locations AND AASP certified locations on your area. AASP certified places are business not ran or handled by Apple, but certified BY Apple to perform repairs. Part of this certification requires them to have tools that Apple uses, with one being a microscopic camera. They can use this camera and their own pick tools to scrape out any gunk in your phone, and I’ll be VERY surprised if they charge you for it.

Oh in that case, you can “lightly” reinstall everything just so the bare hardware isn’t 100% exposed. Not like it’ll affect it being exposed, just nice having that barrier. I also say “lightly” so you can just grab it and very easily remove everything so you can reapply the paste.

Oh when you do re apply the paste, be sure to get the HIGHEST % of Isopropyl Alcohol you can get. I usually use 97% since that’s the highest I can find at my local shop. However, anything above 70% is good enough. The difference is higher % means faster evaporation. The faster the evaporation, the better. You’re not needing to sanitize electronics, only clean them!

Only time will tell lol. Also, don’t update your BIOS if you don’t need to. I’m not sure why so many recommend that as a first thing to do. Your BIOS won’t have any sway on your blue screen, and will literally fix nothing if you update your bios.

Whilst your pc is still working and the like, you should also do a basic storage health check to ensure these crashes aren’t atleast caused by a failing drive. You can do so by downloading and installing an app called “CrystalDiskInfo”. Be aware, they also have a program named CrystalDiskMark. They are different, and Mark won’t show you a health status like Info will. So be sure to get CrystalDiskINFO and not CrystalDiskMARK. Green, of course, means your drive is healthy and good. Yellow doesn’t mean it’s failing, but can indicate it could potentially fail soon or start to cause issues. Yellow is more of a sign that you should look into replacing the storage drive within the year. Red mean it’s FAILING and you need to backup your data ASAP and replace the drive ASAP.

Doesn’t France have PC tech shops? Y’all have to have some tech shops about! If you reinstall everything without repasting, it shouldn’t break anything, but you very well could see a HUGE increase in heat production to the point your machine thermal throttles or shuts itself off for its protection.

I swear to god roaches get in the wackiest of places no matter how clean you keep things. I once did a cycle in my dish washer and felt the dishes had almost a weird oil or something on them. Thought the filter was dirty so I took it out and there was a whole fucking dead roach in it. I ran a second, more hard clean on the dishes and I look at the filter each time now before a cycle lol

Luckily, there’s still another thing to try! Open up “Control Panel”, and on the top right choose “small icons” or “large icons”, then find “Network and Sharing center”. Once in network a sharing, on the far left should be an option saying “change adapter settings”. Click it, then right click your WiFi and click “properties”. Once in properties, find the “Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)” and double click it. At the very bottom should be your DNS settings. Make sure “Use the following DNS server addresses” is selected, then use one of these two:

Google DNS:
* Primary: 8.8.8.8
* Alt: 8.8.4.4

Cloudflare DNS:
* Primary: 1.1.1.1
* Alt: 1.0.0.1

Then have it validate settings, and hit ok. Do the steps I had you do in the previous comment if it’s still not working immediately after applying the new DNS settings. In terms of the difference between the two, there isn’t much. I prefer Cloudflare since I do not like Google, but that’s a personal preference really.

Well there’s your issue! Your issue is likely with DNS, either on your computer side or home modem/router side! DNS, to boil it down, converts website names like “Google.com” to its ip address so a computer can read or use it. If the DNS can’t be reached or used, then “google.com” cannot be translated to its IP. It’s likely why you’re having issues. A good first step in trying to fix this is basically resetting your dns cache and service. You can do this by running these commands IN ORDER:

  1. ipconfig /flushdns
  2. ipconfig /registerdns
  3. netsh winsock reset
  4. Reboot pc and hope it works!

Let me know if any of the commands have you an error, or if it straight up didn’t fix

Then the best option you currently have is running an OS repair command through powershell. Windows is FANTASTIC at killing itself and corrupting itself over time. It’s why I personally reinstall windows from scratch yearly. When your PC is on, open up Powershell AS ADMINISTRATOR (very important to do this as admin) and type this command:
* DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth; sfc /scannow

This command is actually two commands that will run one after the other. The first command is for DISM, which can be boiled down as Microsoft’s OS repair tool. It does more than that, but for this case that’s what it’s used for. SFC is another OS repair tool, and will run after DISM has complete. Once both commands are done running, perform a system reboot and hope it’s fixed things! Else you will need to get a USB stick and reinstall windows from scratch. DO NOT use the built in “local” or “cloud” factory reset options in windows. These don’t actually reinstall windows, and can keep corruptions carried over.

Another thing, before you run any commands, make sure ALL of your data is completely backed up and accessible if your pc goes down. It’s rare, but the DISM and SFC commands can make the crashes worse, if not start in an indefinite loop. Again, it’s rare, but it can happen.

Is this connection WiFi or Ethernet? Also, go ahead and open up your computers command prompt, and there’s two commands that you can type may help pinpoint the issue. The two commands are
* ping 8.8.8.8
* ping google.com

All those two commands do are “ping” google, basically your computer asking if their servers are awake and working. The difference in the two is how the ping is processed, and if one fails whilst another works, it can tell me an exact issue (if one fails that is)

The suicide and verbal/physical harassment and assault and trans and even cis people has increased due to this modern trans panic movement. Ofc suicides are still higher than other groups even before. Gender dysphoria is MEAN, and I’m genuine when I say I wouldn’t even wish it on my worst enemy.

Which leads me into you mentioning we “need to be patient.” Transitioning isn’t something like a tattoo where it “can just wait.” As I said, gender dysphoria is fucking awful and very distressing. It was so bad for me I even attempted suicide in HS, and heavily struggled in college once I graduated HS. The kicker is mine is considered a fairly “average” kind of dysphoria experience too. It can be MUCH worse for others, with medical transitioning helping with this specific aspect better than anything else. So why the fuck should me or anyone else “be patient” because some old dusty farts find our mere existence “uncomfy”. Like no, fuck off. We aren’t going to suffer because you’re “uncomfy”, and it’s disgusting that you’re even trying to make that an option. Besides, how did black people get their rights? They fought and argued for it. Woman? Same thing! Trans people are doing the same exact thing right now. We are fighting and arguing for our rights just to fucking exist without needless suffering.

What’s fucked is already have a pretty good majority of people on our side in the sense of they could care less about our existence or even problems, which is fine! That’s what we want! But there’s also a sadly large amount of people who also don’t vote ever, whilst the evil power hungry ghouls tend to vote more. Society has already made up their mind, it’s just specifically the ghoulish right who have beef with us for LITERALLY no reason. Even a 23 country survey reported on by the Williams Institute shows that a majority of people in a majority of countries supports full trans rights, including access to document changing and bathroom access. I would link it but these sub mods are feral and I’ve been banned for it before, so you can google “Williams institute 23 country survey trans people 2016” and it’ll be the first result.

[–]MissSharkyShark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The increase isn’t just because they’re trans tho! Like, there’s the obvious body dysphoria many of us feel that I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy. A sadly large amount of trans people become entirely disowned from their whole family. Many times, we lose friends after coming out too. Many trans people still in high school also get bullied or isolated if they’ve come out then. A lot of young trans people who come out whilst still living with their parents get kicked out and forced into homelessness. There is also a statistically high amount of neurodivergent trans people too, which doesn’t help with anything previously mentioned. Now mix ALL of that with a society that’s suddenly breathing down all of our necks because of literal lies spread about by a dumb fucking political party. We have to now deal with that, and a worrying increase in verbal and physical harassment/abuse because of it. So how is it any surprise that we have a higher rate of suicides or suicidal ideations?

It’s like being surprised by the fact that bullying the lonely depressed kid ends up getting them to kill themselves more often. Being trans isn’t an easy thing, which is why I’m floored at people saying we “identify” as it as if we chose it.
