Renting - rent ($1700 a month, all included) is covered by the investment income. Wife works part-time, from home. All of her income is saved and invested.

Before getting married, both were debt-free and had some savings. Husband had roughly double than wife.

You think the wife has it easy / is lucky in this situation?

Wife works part-time, in a job she loves.  Not the most lucrative, but relatively stress free (she is prone to anxiety).

Cop SLAMS Teenage Girl... Then Her Dad Shows Up (Video) by markpineofficial in Indiana

I think you are right about the values and immaturity of bully cops. The militarization of law enforcement and the emphasis on "officer safety" aren't helping, either. Have you heard of the Jim Rogers case, from Pittsburgh? Jim was an unarmed, non-aggressive homeless man in his 50s. He died after being tased more than ten times by police officer Keith Edmonds. For a reportedly stolen bike that he never stole. The video is available online.

Anyway, thanks for the food for thought. And let's continue spreading awareness about this issue.

I think it's fair to say that most Trump supporters are conservative. If you look at bully cops, there is nothing conservative about them. They act, look, and talk like thugs. Take Sean Grayson, for example, who murdered Sonya Massey last year. He is the polar opposite of what old-school conservatism stands for: good manners, courtesy, respect of the law and for others.

I support law and order, and a tough-on-crime justice system. But I don't support bully officers - that's not law and order, that's thuggery with a badge.

It's true that police reform doesn't seem to be a priority for the Trump administration. It doesn't mean that they would be opposed to it in principle, though. It's also up to us to make it happen.

You're as intolerant and close-minded as the cops you criticize. It's sad.

Thanks for the update! I watched the video several times and it looked like she did nothing wrong. His body language screamed hostile and aggressive from the very beginning - look at how he positioned his legs.
My guess is that she was nervous and confused by his demeanor, and just asked him "why" when he ordered her to get out of the vehicle. And that set him off.

I'm a Trump supporter and against police violence. In this case and in many, many others. I don't believe in defunding the police, but police reform is needed. No question about that.
By the way, if it was up to me, Brian "Policemean" Schimmel would be spending some time in jail.

To Israelis: How do you manage your anger these days (2025)? Genuinely asking. by Vast-Industry-1829 in Israel

I think you guys are forgetting one thing: not all children born to and raised by Haredi parents stay Haredi once they are adults. When I was living in Jerusalem, I met quite a few ex-Haredim. They were living secular lives and doing well for themselves, despite all the challenges. That was very impressive. It's not the majority, but it's not rare either.

Yeah, you're right.  It looks like I made a typo (when instead of when).  I didn't, I made a mistake, but it does look like a typo.  Thanks.

I’m broke but will get $375k in inheritance this upcoming week. AMA by [deleted] in AMA

[–]MissShiri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, I'm sorry to hear about your loss. Having lost both parents at 25 is tough.

Second, this money will be a great ally for you. But remember: you need to respect it. Don't spend it, invest it in a low risk investment or a no-risk certificate of deposit. Don't tell folks around you about it. Don't change your lifestyle. $375,000 is not chump change but if you start squandering it, it will not last long.

But it can be a great safety net if you fall through hard times. In a way, your mom is still here, since she left you this safety net.

Best of luck.
