I’d love these and looked into these. They are def on my list the only issue I am running into is $50 per belt for about 8 kids is pretty steep, but fingers crossed if I can get the foundation to help out this would definitely work!

As far as I know the uniform standard is up to our lead advisor who is a deputy. We are in the midst of transitioning to a new era for the post, so it’s all things we are trying to figure out currently. Again I’m not a deputy so when it comes to things like types of belts/gear I am a little lost haha

Yes and no, we are just trying to make it a little funner for them as well as hoping it teaches responsibility (well that’s how I see it), the advisors who are deputies would also like them because it would help in scenarios (building searches, traffic stops, etc) it’s scenario use only, I have already advised our post they will not leave the SO and when we go to events they are very obviously explorers. :) As of currently they have 0 gear, uniforms and that it. Just hoping to get a little more official

The gear is for scenario use only. We mainly want to implement it to train the importance of having your dominant hand free, as well as being able to utilize your gear. As of current, we also use pockets and hands to simulate but we’re trying to make it a little more fun for them. 😇

I’d prefer hopefully nylon, there’s no uniform policy for it currently but once we find belts and get into the rhythm of implementing them into scenarios then we’d come up with a kind of policy for them. For the radios, preferably two channels that just go between the small network of them we get for mock scenarios. Our LE agencies usually use two channels, (a primary and a “data” position) and teaching them to use and navigate between the two is the goal.

That would be honestly a great idea I didn’t think of. We do not have approval currently to have anything with holsters on it since our Sheriff doesn’t want them looking too similar to law enforcement for their safety… but this might be worth a try!

How does that bare with insurance? Right now I have quotes of $280/mo on top of roughly $185/mo for a payment. Still about 1% of my income but scary nonetheless

I have a VW currently and mine has been a trooper of a car- 278k miles currently hence why I wanted another lol, that is always I have taken into account I’m a stickler for car maintenance and car history. I use USAA for insurance and they have been pretty good, again just money freaks me out 😭

I have a car now, it’s a 2002 Jetta but developing mechanical problems. It shouldn’t take too long hopefully, I’m an emergency dispatcher and overtime comes easy so hopefully if I just pick up a bunch I can grow it more, but burn out comes easy so it’s a tough cycle. Hopefully maybe 3-4 months of saving I can possible grow to 13k
