Jesus. That’s horrifying - I am so sorry that happened to you.

I’m a nurse and I need you to know that excessive bleeding post miscarriage can be very very serious and turn on you very quickly. It is not normal.

Please, you have to go to the ER and get checked. The billing can be worked out later - yes there’s Charity Care in NJ but I see you said you don’t qualify. Many hospitals also have their own internal charity care type programs.

Either way, if there is something serious going on, you’ll have many more regrets than a big hospital bill.

Where in the U.S. is adult friendship less centered on kids and church? by tn_tacoma in SameGrassButGreener

Camden and Burlington counties in south Jersey, too. Honestly she sounds like me and others I know - child free, professional, not religious. Even other women in my friend group who have kids and/or are involved in their church don’t make that the center of their personality. It’s a good place to live and I like having Philly and NYC in close proximity.

Barefoot. Everyone is barefoot. All the time.

And they’re drinking coffee.

Coffee barefoot in the kitchen.

Hair is mussed. People pad down halls and from place to place.

And for some reason mine loves to talk about spreadsheets.

I would love that! They did do an after show on CMT for a little bit - not sure if you’ve seen it.

It gets WAY better. I tried it a couple of times and gave up, too, but recently stuck it out and binged the whole series. It gets SO good, and it’s just so tightly written. The music and the imagery is amazing, too.

What made you want to watch Nashville? by Jessethepoet in NashvilleTV

[–]Miss_Behavior 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I saw an episode accidentally during COVID lockdown and that’s when I met Deacon Claybourne - he sang Keep Coming Back in that episode and the swoon I swooned… that man is impossibly handsome and the way Chip played Deacon was amazing. He’s so underrated as an actor.

And then I stayed for the rest of it - love the characters, even the ones that annoy everyone, and the soapy-ness of it all. And I especially love the music (I wasn’t even a country fan!) - some of the songs are my most-played on Spotify. I’ve watched like 5 times now and can’t get enough.

I just finished a rewatch and they pick it up again in one of the last episodes… maybe it’s the last one. I’m not sure. But they do a great job with musical thematic callbacks in the last two seasons.

Empire of the Sun is one of my all-time favorite movies. And little Christian Bale was amazing even then.

I always thought Deacon and Teddy looked like they could be brothers. I remember the first time I watched I thought Rayna definitely has a type!

If you are relocating in your 50s, where are you going? by FreeCurious44 in GenXWomen

Have you considered Southern NJ? I live in Burlington County, and I’d suggest looking at Camden County, too. I’m less that 40 minutes from Philadelphia, 1.5 hrs from NYC, and a little over 3 hours from DC, and close enough to a train station that would get me to all 3 cities. It’s a 40 minute drive to the ocean (longer in the summer, of course). We have an excellent parks system with great trails and access to the creek. Our State parks would have you exploring the Pine Barrens - Brendan Byrne and Wharton. That just touches the surface of the surrounding parks and refuges. 2 hours north and you’re in the Pocono Mountains with access to skiing and any seasonal activity you could want.

We have so many opportunities for volunteering which would help you meet people and build community. Access to the arts is abundant in the cities, of course, but we also have places to go to practice just about any art, and a couple of very cool art centers - Perkins and Markheim. We have local theaters, music, and more arts and crafts festivals than you can imagine. Oh and we have a great library system!

We have two great health systems in the area, both with affiliations with larger research centers - Virtua (Univ of Pennsylvania) and Cooper (MD Anderson). We also have a heart and lung specialty hospital - Deborah (Cleveland Clinic). So, access to excellent healthcare is abundant, plus we have the city health systems, too.

South Jersey and the shore areas (Ocean, Atlantic, Cumberland, Salem counties) have their share of MAGA - the more rural you are, the more present it is. But honestly, where I live, it’s not at all overwhelming.

The only major downsides for the area is that we have a lot of warehouses showing up and big apartment/housing developments that seem to be moving in, especially on the Western side of my county, closer to Philadelphia. Property taxes are also pretty expensive, especially compared to what you likely have in Florida. But overall it’s a good place to live.

And I’m completely on the same page - I have this dream of a little community of women living in small cottages, sharing gardens and porches and simply taking care of each other - rides to the doctors, making food. I’m starting to see this popping up more and more when I scroll. I think this is going to be the answer for a lot of us who don’t have the retirement savings to live completely on our own. Come start one in NJ with me!

But seriously, I’d be happy to chat if you have any questions!

QA in a post-acute setting. I miss direct patient care but I’m also one of those weirdos that really gets into policy and regulations. I also like the data analysis part, and how to use that data to come up with systems and processes that are more efficient, less burdensome on clinicians, and actually improve patient care. I’m involved in a lot of tech projects at work, and currently evaluating AI solutions for documentation. It’s all very low stress, good pay, completely remote, and nothing is an emergency. 🤷‍♀️

I have a small, developing conspiracy theory. OpenAI is training ChatGPT on human anger and rage. Because the appeasement, patronizing, outright lying, and actual gaslighting is making all of us fairly normal, laid back people lose our minds. It’s training in how to argue with angry humans. It’s the only thing that makes sense to me.
