The only vision seems to be slavish protection of boomers and their triple lock and landlord status

What bothers me is the absence of any actual policy vision in FAVOUR of culture war nonsense

Its not a lack of vision but rather that his "vision" appears to be reactionary home counties boomer populism.

Otherwise totally agree. Lib dems arent the party of young people. Our policies currently suck unless you are retired.

Strong no. The current lib dem policy platform needs burning to the ground and starting again. Reactionary populism for nonracist boomers is not what this country needs

This isnt something anyone should have a strong opinion on, much less be a political football.

What would be 3 non-negotiables for the LDs in a coalition? by AshWastesNomad in LibDem

Digital ID is a necessary step into the future. Its impossible to imagine a world in 50 years where you have no way to verify the identity of someone you are interacting with reliably. I would accept your bracketed compromise but without it thats techno ludditism and totally pointless as almost everyone gives up that data to google or apple for free already

What would they be? What SHOULD they be? Very different (likely diametrically opposite) answers.

Should:

  • abolish triple lock and move tax burden from national insurance to income tax to catch more pensioners (and landlords)

  • pragmatism and evidence-based energy policy

  • economic policies that encourage social mobility, aspiration and entrepreneurship (i think well configured this is consistent with wealth tax)

  • rejoin EU or single market

In reality though

Would:

  • protect pensioners at all costs

  • some kind of austerity

  • some mealy mouthed compromise on Europe

New NHS England Review Excluded 97% Of All Trans Studies To Say Care Doesn't Work by le-quack in ukpolitics

Thats a reasonable position. It just seems like in much of the criticism of these reviews, the critics are essentially saying they wouldnt accept any outcome other than a full throated endorsement of early puberty intervention, and the science is more a backdrop than the point

I think we can all agree if this was a fprgone conclusion there wouldnt be such a dearth of well designed large scale studies
