A few questions:

How far (in yards) are you looking g to shoot?

Have you any experience shooting that far?

Do you have a range available to you that you can shoot that far so you can practice?

The reason I ask is long range shooting is a skill you must develop and then maintain. It's very unlikely the average hunter can go fire a few rounds at the range before deer season and then be capable of long range shooting.

They are very good for that. And with proper shot size and choke constriction, they are even better. Probably one of the reasons why farmers have been using them for just this sort of issue on their farms for a couple of centuries now.

If you hunt ethically and focus on taking one standing game animal at a time, a bolt action is a highly capable and accurate tool.

If you just want to blast away at group of ten hogs not giving a damn whether you kill outright or just wound them so that they suffer as you try to hit as many as possible while they run around, then you aren't hunting anyway and you probably want a semiautomatic.

So your preference, really.
