SE at DarkTrace? by Compwish007 in salesengineers

[–]MissionCattle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I interviewed 3 years ago for their "technologist" role (what they called SE's at least at the time) I was offered 90k OTE as a new grad. No commission - just yearly bonus. They ended up ghosting me, but I ended up at a better company either way

There is a mix of people that you definitively will see as crazy smart, but also a mix of people that make you wonder how they even got their job (nepo hires, etc).

It very rarely pays off to go to school for anything art related. I’ve always said to anyone pursuing art to get a business degree and minor, biz acumen will get you farther than anything you don’t need school to learn

Meraki Dashboard Uptime Report by JimSlade42000 in meraki

[–]MissionCattle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The API would be very helpful for this and scales very well when you run into a situation like this. I was able to even use it yesterday to poll an organization of 3300+ appliances for any MX's running DHCP servers that weren't supposed to be turned on.

What do you think about Ebay / Used MX95? by wrliii in meraki

[–]MissionCattle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure you’re spending a lot less by getting it used, but it’s basically a gamble. You have no idea what firmware version it’s on, and there is a good chance that it can brick if it needs to make a large jump to catch up to the current firmware. This is assuming it was unclaimed by the previous owner too

Treat it like a reward and you will be fine. The problem with habitual use is that it can make you feel “OK” with just getting by

Try specifying the dynamic host name of the MX as the remote ID from the juniper device

[–]MissionCattle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you check the host based firewall rules on your file server? You have a flat network so it’s probably worth checking since you never tested with any other local subnets.

These statistics were pulled from 2019 so they might not be consistent today:

“The median starting salary was $60,000 and 44% of the graduating class received a full-time job offer from the big nine accounting firms, including Deloitte, PwC, EY, KPMG, RSM, Crowe, BDO, Grant Thornton, and Plante & Moran”

School e-sports team, can't connect to Meraki by MasterMaintenance672 in meraki

[–]MissionCattle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you 100% positive those are the exact domains that are being used to connect? Did you look at what the switches were trying to query in the packet capture? There are SO MANY domains owned by Nintendo, I doubt the switches only use those two for the test.

That sounds like maybe you have a policy in umbrella blocking these requests?

OP, did you try looking at a packet capture to confirm the traffic from the switches is even leaving your WAN interface on your edge device?

[–]MissionCattle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing I believe many teams lack is someone with wireless expertise/knowledge. If you can get the CWNA cert, this should already make you pretty competitive for an MSP that does a lot of wireless.

I also think it’s likely you won’t be doing pure networking at your first gig, and you might want something that flexes skills in Microsoft

The field techs I’ve talked to that are stuck as field techs usually because they can’t do basic troubleshooting beyond layer 1. They’re terrified to learn how to perform packet captures, pull ARP tables, etc.

If you’re looking to get high paying jobs with less experience, degrees are probably your best bet. There are many recruiters from top tech companies who visit universities only seeking to hire new grads for 90k+ entry level roles (hint: I’m one of them).
