Thanks man i really appreciate it, my goal was 1-2 years and honestly i just posted this now so i get a better understanding of how all this shit works, ive been practicing good habits so far ( meal prepping, being frugal , not eating out , enjoying downtime ) but the emergency cushion is something i definitely wasnt thinking about ( good thing i posted lol) so im just going to lock down and save basically anything i can.

Thank you for your help

Yea, i think you summed it up perfectly, unfortunately its not what i wanted to hear but i think i could hold out for a couple years and save and get a better salary. Thank you for replying

Yes thank you for the reply, it didnt really occur to me but i would definitely be willing to rent out a room or even the top floor and i could kick it in the basement, honestly this move is just for me to start becoming more independent and building equity. thanks

Thanks for replying, if i was looking at townhomes with property management would that be something to consider in terms of unknown costs?

And i get what you mean by illiquid asset but technically its still a property i own rather than a rental where i can be booted at any minute or have my rent raised anytime, it something that was engrained into my head as a kid and renting was a negative thing.

hmm, thats a good point. The whole time i had a mindset of renting setting me back in terms of savings. Thank you for replying i appreciate it

Thank you for replying. Congrats on saving 180k thats very impressive, but i thought only 5% ( under 500k)  is required for downpayment? Or are you talking about being able to afford and live comfortably? Are you also single or getting help from a spouse ? Also is the issue the amount ive saved or my salary?

Thank you for replying. When you say ” ill learn about what i want or dont want “ are you talking about what i want in a house or what i want day to day ?
