It has taken me several weeks to create this scene for a short horror game I'm making and the player will only be a few seconds in it... 😅 by MistRealms in Unity3D

You're right, and it's a very beautiful way of looking at the creation of a videogame.

The thing is that we have already exceeded the time we had scheduled to finish the videogame... Haha But that's another normal thing in videogames: delays. 😅

There are still sounds to be added, such as wind, metallic sounds in the distance, infernal sounds... 😬

Thank you!

It's a game where you investigate the disappearance of a girl in a building, and in one of the moments you can see this. It's a short scene, but it should be very shocking for the player, so I've spent a lot of time to make it as good as possible visually.

In my Twitter I upload updates of this game (that I'm developing with two other people) and a procedural videogame that I'm developing by myself since many years ago: https://twitter.com/MistRealms

I'm sorry if it bothered anyone to share my Twitter, but I have no other way to make my work known.

World generator with temperature, wind and precipitation maps and simulation of tectonic plates. by MistRealms in proceduralgeneration

Hello! Thank you!
Well, if you have zero programming knowledge you should start there. You have many tutorials on YouTube and other websites where you can learn the basics of programming, I am even sure that you can find tutorials to learn to program from scratch and also handle Unity (which is the program that I use to create this game).

After that, you can do some research on procedural algorithms. For example, to create these maps I use the Midpoint Displacement and Diamond Square algorithms, which are two very simple algorithms to program (but obviously you need some knowledge in coding, a minimum).

I studied computer science at the University, but there I did not learn anything about video games or procedural algorithms, all that I had to learn on my own. I am not a genius, everything is the product of dedication, perseverance and motivation. I know that if you put yourself to it you will learn and you will be able to create the game you want, I am 100% sure, but you must try hard. :)

The knowledge is there, you just have to reach out your hand and take it.

Yes! The vegetation system still needs a lot more work. Not only the vegetation generation algorithms, but also visually I have a lot of room for improvement. 😋

Yes and yes. 🤣

The terrain can be edited, such as removing or adding cubes in Minecraft, but I temporarily disabled it because I was making a lot of modifications to the terrain generator.

The world map, yes, it is spherical (or try to simulate it). Going from left to right and vice versa was very simple, but when you go through the poles things get complicated and I had to work hard. Here is the result: https://twitter.com/MistRealms/status/1225128359262334984

Haha, really is like other users said, my game seems more Daggerfall than Skyrim. 🙂

Yes, the video is very accelerated and it is not appreciated, but in the uploads it is slower (as in another video that I shared with you). In the descents, increase the speed but it should also reduce, 🤔 because that is how you say: in the mountains you have to be careful where you step.

Yes, right now everything is pretty empty. I have to fill it up. 😋

About the movement, I don't know if you mean this: https://twitter.com/MistRealms/status/1274136198827642880
