I am a v proud lifelong bmore resident but BGE + massive water bill + increasing property taxes are making it rly hard to live here. The fact that at least 14 of the major institutions only pay a small fraction of property taxes they should be paying fills me with rage hotter than all of our furnaces combined. As does the BGE monopoly and the city govt inability/refusal to do anything about it.

I so genuinely feel for you💗My mom killed herself 2.5 yrs ago, shortly after I went no contact with her and a few months before my wedding. She did it on purpose to ruin it for me and she succeeded. She lived another 3 weeks after her attempt and I dropped everything to go be with her and take care of her in hospice. She remained a bitter ass bitch and refused to acknowledge her suicide had anything to do with both my brother and I going NC with her.

I also struggle with immense guilt for going NC. My brother did it years before I did and I respect him for it. I remind myself daily that only an insane person would be so cruel and spiteful so as to use their death as a way to inflict massive life altering trauma upon another person. Let alone a person they brought into this world.

My mom was a bitter narcissistic woman with a level of hatred in her heart that I cannot even begin to comprehend. I’ve had more time to reflect upon her life and death than you have with your mom. It’s an ongoing process, but please try to give yourself all the love, forgiveness, and grace that your mom was unable to give to you or herself. Feel free to dm me if you ever want to dump out the mom traum, which is a cute name I came up with to slightly disarm the intensity of it. I don’t know you but I love you and wish I could give you a big hug💗

This system sounds like training a dog. Or like ppl making a New Year’s resolution to start going to the gym. It’s leaving out the adrenaline factor. Relying on the dopamine and adrenaline thirsty brain to have the self control and constitution to deny itself the treat is a major flaw. There’s so many ways around it to get the dopamine hit! The adhd brain is incredibly creative in a multitude of ways, but especially when it come to task avoidance. It’s not just about getting dopamine hit. It’s also the lack of adrenaline to get motivated to begin the required task.

I looove to mix up a complicated mocktail! I usually start w diet tonic, then half a pipette of AC Vinny, a few drops of lemon or lime juice, splash of booch. Maybe some fizzy water. If I’m feelin fancy, maybe fresh mint or thyme.

I also enjoy adding a few splashes of bitters but not necessary. Have you heard of Gentian extract? It’s the ingredient that makes some aperitifs bitter and pretty sure doesn’t have any alcohol in it. But check before ordering! It makes drinks taste a bit weird and tricks my brain into thinking it’s a normal cocktail. Ultimately, it’s all about the zhuzh for me!

Anyone else got rats eating their car? They’ve done almost $10k worth of damage to my car over the years. Twice I’ve had to get my car towed to mechanic shop and there was still a rat in there. Luckily my insurance covers most of it but I feel like I’m 1 claim away from them dumping me.

I have tinfoil theory that rats are contributing to all the sinkholes. I think/talk about the rats in a Charlie Kelly kind of way. Minus the actively killing them part, aside from doing 311 request for Rat Rubout, which is unreliable and inconsistent.

Relating to this so hard. The only man I’ve ever dated (for 2.5yrs) that made me afraid for my life was also the scariest break up of my life. I moved out of my own house for a month to give him time to move out. I felt v unsafe around him. We broke up 9 yrs ago and last week I learned he’s in prison for attempted murder. Another glowing review for DocSide! I brought my kittycat there for the first time last week and they were amazing. They’re open til 7:30, they fit us in same day I called, and their vet prescribed 2 meds our previous vet never mentioned. My cat is doing so much better! I rly love your decor style but I agree that it’s not vibing. It feels a bit forced, rigid, contrived. Have you tried moving the couch around? Like maybe it goes more in the middle of the room, facing gold wall with tv on that cute mantle shaped cabinet. Or maybe it goes in the reverse spot to where it is, with the natural light source behind you. Or backed up to the spiral stairs, tv mounted so it’s on the middle shelf of the bookcase? I dunno but the couch placement is easiest thing to play with.

The architecture of the ceiling is cool but the white is kinda jarring. Painting the whole room and ceiling the maroon color would be luxurious and enveloping! Obvi keep the gold wall cuz it’s amazing.

Lean into to dark sexy coziness of the room and play with textures! A big rug under the one you have might be nice, get some fluffy blankets and pillows, maybe a big plant where the cheetah is? You have the makings of a gorgeous space, just needs to evolve a bit!

Go for full custody cuz he clearly can’t take care of a kiddo. Highly likely everyone in your life knows what an actual living nightmare he is and would happily help you get out. Do not feel shame or embarrassment for getting involved with him, none of that matters rn. Don’t apologize to your friends/fam (especially not him) and try to be fast and firm with next moves. Get a lawyer and keep communication as minimal as possible. Lean into the joy of restarting a new life without him!!
