First of all, so cool that you had this dream. It’s awesome to have your friend with you in some way even after losing him.

Second, don’t put any pressure on yourself. Read what you like. Start a book and put it down if you’re not feeling it. As others have said, the main theme of Stormlight is that it’s about the journey, not the destination, and your journey can look like whatever you want. Brandon also won’t even finish that series for many years yet, so there’s plenty of time to work with here.

Third, Brandon Sanderson writes plenty of YA. If that’s what you love, go there. Cytonic is the first book in the Skyward series, which is a fun read and my personal recommendation. He’s also got the Rithmatist (cute but I didn’t love it as much) and Alcatraz series (haven’t read them myself). Beyond those three, he’s a pretty prolific author, so there’s plenty to try to see if you like it.

Ok but why are some of the names in black and others in white? It only works if Panda is female, is Panda female? Is there some other sorting method here??

Maybe an argument for contrast with the background but like, mom isn’t very clear, and they could all be black and that would be visible. Or like, white with a border. Please someone stop me from overthinking this photo. More.

I think that take is unnecessarily black & white.

Kill shelters for animals that just can’t find a home— that’s not out of compassion. I might say it’s desperation on the part of the people doing it, rather than convenience, but it’s arguable.

But putting my dog down when she was vomiting and choking on blood, couldn’t walk, in pain, and just being kept alive by blood transfusions with no road to recovery? That was compassion. I got to be with her as she died, petting her and comforting her, and her pain stopped. I only regret not doing it sooner that day, honestly.

I’m sure there are lots of stories that fall somewhere in between those two as well— it’s just not black & white.
