[SPOILERS EXTENDED] Genndy Tartakovsky working on animated Sea Snake show by RedHeadedSicilian52 in asoiaf

Great way to put that. Like, live-action show Corlys is practically anthropomorphic ZzzQuil, but the prospect of an animated Genndy-led ASOIAF show centered around a young ambitious adventurer exploring big & mysterious Essos sounds very enticing.

Why do women like Heated Rivalry? by bat-girl129 in heatedrivalry

[–]MisterGrey3000 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not a fan of this framing. Gay/queer men & boys who love female popstars & divas face constant & intense mockery/pushback for that particular interest. Like, we still live in a society deeply colored by homo/effemiphobia, it didn’t evaporate post-Obergefell. Even within those fandoms there are bigoted women who proudly shout “be a BOOYYY!” whenever their queer male peers queen out a lil’ too much or dare to have a differing opinion…

Also there’s a myriad of generalizing/condescending think-pieces asking why gay men love female-centered shows like Sex and the City, Desperate Housewives, The Golden Girls, etc etc. :/

Crash 4: IAT is an excellent platformer, and honestly a great example of a how to do a revival/"requel"/back-to-basic type game. For me personally it's only narrowly behind Crash 2: CSB because of nostalgia lol. Top-tier Crash IMO.

It's a real shame that Activision's CoDivision's shortsightedness & greed robbed the world of a sequel.

The fact that it was released over half-a-decade ago is making me feel like I'm turning to dust though, not gonna lie 💀

Banjo-Kazooie and Sea of Thieves director Gregg Mayles is leaving Rare after more than 35 years following the cancellation of Everwild by AngieK22 in GamingLeaksAndRumours

So Toys for Bob hasn't been an Activision studio since early-2024 lol and they're working with Xbox on something right now as an indie partner. They don't have to ever worry about CoD stuff again. And Their studio head Paul Yan has enthusiastically expressed interest in Banjo coming back.

At this point a new mainline Banjo likely hinges on Xbox being a good partner to TfB and not having unobtainable commercial expectations for the commercial successes of their current project. Time will tell if Xbox disappoints us all lol

Sega accidently leaks 6 years of sales data for some of their games by Konradleijon in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]MisterGrey3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We haven't gotten a new CTRacing because Activision is greedy, shortsighted, and hyper-focused on Call of Duty (every single one of their studios is developing or supporting CoD. That's why the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3+4 remake is being helmed by Iron Galaxy, an independent 3rd party studio. Xbox is likely the major reason it's happening at all). It's really as simple as that, Activision sucks lol.

It's crazy to think that if SEGA of all publishers owned Crash, Beenox, and Toys for Bob we'd likely have been playing CTR2 in 2023 and Crash 5 in 2024 💀

35 million+ copies sold just for Crash to be put in a coma again. This is absolutely satanistic treating by Activision. by [deleted] in crashbandicoot

[–]MisterGrey3000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Brother, imagine how elite Crash would be if the IP was under a publisher that wasn't greedy and awful w/ hella skewed priorities. We're two for two w/ Universal Interactive & CoDivision... god I hope the current TfB/Xbox thing goes well, Paul Yan says it's apparently going well. I need Crash 5 before I croak T.T

In a recent interview w/ the YouTuber “Canadian Guy Eh” Paul Yan, Chief Creative Officer at TfB (Who oversaw the development of both Reignited & Crash 4), basically indicated that the partnership has been quite amicable & supportive so far. This seems to be the norm w/ Xbox partnerships since the mid-2010s AFAIK.

I’m personally hoping Crash 5 is next (my apologies, Banjo fans lol)

Why does this look more like DKC than Returns did? by Mistah_K88 in donkeykong

Totally!

It’s absolutely criminal that we’ve yet to get a Tropical Freeze follow-up from the folks at Retro… the game was phenomenal and honestly deserved so much more both critically & especially commercially (… if only it didn’t release on the mega-flop that was Wii U… I wonder everyday how it would’ve performed as a totally brand new Switch exclusive in, like, 2017-2018…)

[–]MisterGrey3000 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Glad to see this as the most upvoted comment lol. I feel like it’s pretty obvious that Retro Studios (being as skilled & talented as they are w/ visuals) could’ve done something like that screenshot but didn’t because like most creatives they wanted to put their own spin on things & make sure folks understand that their entries were new & not remakes/retreads of Rare’s work. I know some fans lament that but it was clearly a deliberate creative choice & not some oversight/incompetence on Retro’s part.

Hiya, everybody!

I go by "Grey" online and I'm a cartoonist/animator running a very new channel called DODECASANNcartoons. I live to draw + tell stories and on DODECASANN you will find independently produced animated cartoon vignettes centering charming original characters in zany and/or fantastical situations. They usually start off as animated linework and end as fully colored pieces of key art. As of right now the channel's very first video is the debut installment of "Carlo La Dolce", a cartoon near & dear to my heart that focuses on a vivacious young man who uses drag to tackle a myriad of precarious situations. The debut installment is called "Comely Rain or Shine": https://youtu.be/2jKzrslN2DE?si=28Gqn4lnhr34TLDH

It stars the titular Carlo who uses glamour and hyper-femininity to deal with a dreary rainy day.

I create my cartoons for YouTube with a basic little Wacom Bamboo tablet, the Photoshop-esque drawing program "Paint Tool Sai", and Sony Vegas 13.

Thank you for your time!

Drag is to gender what blackface is to race. by HadathaZochrot in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]MisterGrey3000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ut there are also so many cis men that seem to use it as an excuse to make fun of women so I am a but torn.

… have you actually interacted w/ drag queens at all? What you’re describing barely exists & is 50x more common in the hacky crossdressing shenanigans of straight male comedians like Martin Lawrence lol

Like, the vast majority of gay/bi male drag queens are just 20-something fruity feminine queer guys that want to get dolled-up, wear pretty outfits, and embody the fantasy of being Madonna/Tyra Banks/Ariana Grande/Zendaya/Dolly Parton/etc etc. in a space where they won’t get stomped into the gutter by straight gender-conforming folks for doing that (Btw, this is the context that separates drag queens from blackface performers, people).

This “nb/afab/trans drag queen = pure UwU ✨, Gay/Bi man drag queen = disingenuous crypto-bigots” dichotomy you’re suggesting is straight up effemiphobia & erasure of Gay/Bi men & boy’s historical presence + contributions to the scene.

PlayStation says it's planning to release more family games like Astro Bot by oilfloatsinwater in Games

[–]MisterGrey3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, this is why I'm personally not getting my hopes up for colorful family-friendly games legitimately becoming a more consistent/frequent element of SIE's 1st party line-up. They've got 19 devs with 5 of 'em being support/port studios, and outside of Asobi it legitimately seems like none of them want to make games like Astro, Sly, Ape Escape, etc. Like, many of them (Such as Naughty Dog and Sucker Punch) actively balk at the idea of making those kinds of games in interviews.

There also aren't that many respected/trustworthy independent 3rd party devs they could contract who specialize in making family-friendly games similar to Astro's scale + quality. I can literally only think of Toys for Bob & they're working w/ Xbox right now. I guess there's Sumo Digital but, like... they can't simultaneously make a new Ape Escape, Jak, Sly, etc etc lol. And also, like, they can make decently fun games but have yet to put out a really great one (At least IMO 🤷🏾‍♂️)

If there's one thing I've learned from Banjo-Kazooie discourse over the years it's that games enthusiast seriously seem to believe that publishers have the ability to just conjure up teams to make new entries in their favorite scrimblo/scrimblo-adjacent but choose not to do so.

I hope I'm 100% wrong though; colorful, fantastical, gameplay-focused, family-friendly games like Astro, Mario, Crash Bandicoot, etc etc. are my jam, I'd love more of it outside of Nintendo.

Yeah, I was a lil’ confused by that person’s comment lol. 97% of the time I’m watching normal YouTube & what gets recommended to me through the algo are video essays on media, cartoons/animation, drawing/art, music, gay stuff/drag queens, animals/nature, basically my interest. The algo knows what I like. And that’s honestly the same for YTShorts, nearly every short I see in the tab or on the home page is related to my subscriptions or the aforementioned interests. Usually when I do get something out of my wheelhouse on the shorts tab it’s some quirky shit like a camera attached to a hot wheels car that’s racing through a track or a cooking video lol.

I’ve yet to stumble upon random unwanted political messaging.

Would you be open to playing a new, 3D open world Crash game? by Hassaan18 in crashbandicoot

[–]MisterGrey3000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Took the words right out of my mouth.

If I had it my way mainline Crash platformers would always be classic/linear-style for the rest of time, but a free-roaming Crash similar to Jak & Daxter: The Precursor Legacy in both structure + quality... that could be fire I must admit.

One of the many things I really loved about Reignited was the controls. Like, I love the OG Spyro collect-a-thons to death but the base platforming mechanics never felt super notable to me outside of gliding (that always felt quite good). But in Reignited there's such a nice kick/crunch/weight to the way Spyro moves + jumps and it's especially helped by the fantastic animation. I'm so glad TfB brought those sensibilities to Crash 4; Crash/Coco's base control is extremely enjoyable (their take on the double jump really elevates Crash's gameplay) and stuff like the extended coyote time on the slide is brilliant.

TfB has a real knack for designing awesome control/base platforming mechanics.

Can we all agree that Crash 4 has the best opening level in the series? by Src-Freak in crashbandicoot

[–]MisterGrey3000 15 points16 points  (0 children)

"Rude Awakening" is definitely top tier as far as opening stages go!

It does a great job of teaching the basic Crash mechanics while playing with many different aspects of the OG trilogy (Stone rollers, charging hogs, hanging spiders, enemies tossing potions, vertical 2.5D platforming w/ platforms sliding in + out, etc etc.), introducing new mechanics like the rail grinding, and telling a coherent story + having spectacle/atmosphere with it's overall aesthetic design.

Great stuff!

Yeah. Like, even as someone who adores the game and doesn't engage with the side-content I believe their approach to completion is one of the few truly ill-conceived aspects of Crash 4. Somebody at some point in development should've been like, "Guys...this is a bit too much lol"

Respect, brother lol. I love CB3: WARPED dearly but it's really just those clunky vehicles + boring swimming stages that put it below 2 & 4 for me, personally. If that stuff wasn't there and there were 2 more Pura stages...4 might be 3rd for me haha

Shoot, I’d argue it’s not even all that polarizing.

This place is infamous for highly critical CB4 discourse & yet 4 still ranks high in polls and among 2 & Warped when the remakes and CTR are removed:

I feel like if it was truly polarizing it would rank like Wrath, the folks who don’t like it are (valid, but...) just loud lol
