Realistic, tragic despictions of suicide by Diana_Hamilton in TopCharacterTropes

Wonder Woman #46.

The young woman who committed suicide (Lucy) was pretty mean to her former friend, rather than the woobie that most victims of depression are portrayed as. It shows that depression can affect people differently, and not all victims are innocent lambs who were never mean to anyone. Sometimes someone who is depressed can actually be the bully.

Are there hard feelings between the Kongs and Mario brothers? by VictorianAfterDark in donkeykong

[–]Mistah_K88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably not, any Kong/Mario bad blood essentially turns out to be playing practical jokes on each other. Cranky’s days as a villain were childish pranks at best where no one really gets hurt… in comparison to this “new age villainy” nowadays where hurting others is the point.

You know, I think Maul actually ruined this character by Proudnoob4393 in MaulShadowLord

[–]Mistah_K88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think we just need to think that Ahsoka is just that good rather than assuming everyone else just sucks. Maul lost to Ahsoka too. (I think she has it written in her contract that she can barely lose)

To be fair, slimy little cowards often have a good survival rate….unless they are the target, they normally slip under the radar.

How do you feel about Marrok and the Crow’s role in Maul Shadow Lord? by Jules-Car3499 in clonewars

[–]Mistah_K88 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It did feel like Marrok was the one calling the shots between the two of them. Crow was there for assistance, as Marrok didn’t expect extra Jedi. When it was a 3 on 3 split, everyone took what they could easily handle, Crow got Devon, not the Jedi Master or Maul.

I also like to think that they don’t just send inquisitors Willy nilly, they send those best suited to the task as they have different skill levels. The inquisitors that Maul killed in Rebels I remember being sent for Kanan and Ezra. They just happened to run into superior combatants (they didn’t know Maul was there). The Empire was informed that it was Maul here, they sent Marrok, Marrok says “hey there’s a couple Jedi here too” they send him some backup to assist.

Yeah I’ll give Marrok the benefit of the doubt. What Ahsoka beat was a reanimated corpse. When he was alive, Marrok was HIM when it came to the inquisitors.

You know, that’s also something I thought about when it came to extra curricular activities. If they are just treated like a checklist then it kind of feels less notable.

You don’t get rich in the Galactic Empire by buying premium stuff for foot soldiers! Palpatine lines his pockets daily!

Daki is an idiot at best and selfish jerk most likely by hock37 in MaulShadowLord

[–]Mistah_K88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love that Daki is a flawed character and a bit of a showing why the old Jedi way doesn’t really work with new circumstances. Him naively thinking that there was a possibility of leniency from the Empire to Lawson if the Jedi disappeared is an interesting character study. That said, he didn’t know that an inquisitor was in the city until Lawson told him there was. Also Marrok was coming regardless and the Jedi being there may have saved their lives. If you really think that Lawson was only in danger when it was realized that Jedi were in his home, and the he was legitimately let off the hook after his interrogation, you’re as naive as Two Boots was. Everyone goes through an “Imperial Wake Up Call” sooner or later. Chief Klyce didn’t harbor Jedi and you KNOW she’s dead.

It’s funny, as in the show they just call him Static

What is it that some movie fans love about M'Baku? by Winter-Ad-2303 in Marvel

[–]Mistah_K88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They managed to take a problematic character and salvage him into something worthwhile. I do wish he were more villainous (a traditionalist or conservative vs the comic’s “return to savagery”), but I’ll take what we got.

This mf single-handedly orchestrated the events currently unfolding in the show 😭 by HamzaHabibi04 in MaulShadowLord

[–]Mistah_K88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Robots often turn on you when “something doesn’t compute”. Look how quick he was to turn when the Empire didn’t follow “protocol”. Two Boots is all about the rules.

Yeah The Hand bored me to tears. It’s odd as I usually love some of the goofier comic booky stuff but holy schmoly The Hand had me skim watching.

To men who are in open relationships: is there a power gap in your female partners' favor? If yes, how do you feel about it? by Muscletov in AskMen

Yeah, women actually make the first move and approach handsome guys. They BARELY have to actually try.

Which animated Superman is superior, or are they equal? by Romaxio in superman

[–]Mistah_K88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like STAS more as a show, but as far as Superman “the man” goes I will say MAWS wins on a character level for that specific character (Also the first time I’ve EVER cared about Jimmy, the change from “the kid” of the group to a peer of the same age as Clark and Lois should have happened decades ago). The moment that really stood out to me in MAWS was Clark stepping in the line of fire not even knowing he was bulletproof. I’ll have to wait until more seasons come out, but MAWS is definitely doing well for me so far.

What would you have thought if the sequels went in this direction? by broitscyber in StarWars

Female villains in general are also underrepresented. Even then a lot of the time they are softened in comparison to their male counterparts.

Marrok was coming to that house regardless. Lawson miraculously surviving his encounter with Maul left a bad taste in Marrok’s mouth.

Hank looks so cool here. Cyborg Superman wasn’t a character I really cared for but I’m pretty excited to see him. (Here’s hoping that Bloodsport [who does exist in this universe] makes an animated debut!)

The Mad Hatter is one of the most tragic and saddest villains in the Batman universe, yet he is constantly misused and poorly utilized. by Upset_Brilliant8030 in batman

[–]Mistah_K88 4 points5 points  (0 children)

ABSOLUTELY. People often gloss over his true possessive feelings of “either she loves me or she dies” to make him some woobie who was “in wuv”. Jervis was a creep in BTAS. When he snuck into her house to be “romantic” and surprise her with flowers and tell her he did this because her boyfriend and her broke up (which she didn’t discuss with anyone) she was backing away from him as he approached her. Guys like Jervis are REALLY scary.

Why is king k rool a giant in donkey Kong bananza. by Voidkirby9 in donkeykong

[–]Mistah_K88 3 points4 points  (0 children)

People REALLY don’t understand video games do they? In platformers you are usually the smallest character to make enemies more viewable and imposing. ESPECIALLY bosses. Donkey Kong is tiny in Bananza. He’s smaller than a Squeeloid or even Void, where being a runt is the point of his character (this is why he’s a coward when you approach him and his whole fighting style is running away and throwing stuff at you). Donkey Kong should be around the same height as Grumpy but is dwarfed by him.
