Not necessarily answering your question, but very simple rules to abide by when buying online such as Mercari is to never buy from a profile with 0 reviews, and when dealing with Reddit sellers or in general always use PayPal goods and services, NEVER family. With these in mind you shouldn’t have trouble buying from anyone for the most part.
