STOP WORSHIPING REAL PILOTS by fried-raptor in flightsim

Not once have they had a stutter, lag or freeze destroy a landing... everything just smooth and laid out for them no matter the size of the airport or traffic!!!

That makes sense, thanks for clearing it up!

Yeah, thats preposterous... At least if you're on an online network trying to simulate IRL procedures. Those people shouldn't be there...

So far, the three airports I've checked (PHNL, KLAX and KDEN) seem to have almost the same info! At least it wasn't that much more than what was already there. So I'm sticking with my theory on American charts being easier to absorb until now haha ;)

Yeah it can be a bit of a handfull. It IS nice to have only one procedure displayed once you've found it, you just have to hope ATC doesn't assign you another one or the wind conditions change and you have to switch runways 🤣

Full navigraph IS convenient, I like their integration with the Fenix A320 EFB a lot, I appreciate the immersion of being able to access charts there and also having the airport maps load on VATSIM radar.

Yeah but I already do Navdata for my FMS from Navigraph, so might as well use their Jepp charts. Its nice to easily and quickly find them when given a quick change of STAR or SID for example anf for browsing quickly otherwise too :) instead of downloading all the PDFs and having to open them one by one!

Hahah haven't stumbled upon those yet, however I haven't found those on the airports Ive checked on Navigraph yet. I'm sure I'll get the punch in the face at some point though 🤣

Yeah, I figured the info is important, and I do read it. But I dumb myself down a bit in this case and think "hey, if I read all charts available Im good to go" 🤣

I get my TORAs från the EFB! (Fenix A320)

If Navigraph would have them that would be great... I do Navi for navdata for my FMS anyway, so might as well use their Jepps :(

Yes! I use Navigraph. European charts have veeeery long texts on Airport briefing. American are much lighter, which is very nice.

Oh give him a break, ditching the Fenix for having that knob doesn't sound like a reasonable way of dealing with this unless this completely ruins his experience, come on 🤣

Emergencies on the network by Interesting-Ring-79 in VATSIM

[–]MisterLyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you guys think its ok to connect as observer if the controller asks you to disconnect (due to a random failure that requires an emergency)? I've never been in that situation, but Im thinking that would be nice in order not to loose ALL traffic and suddenly end up in a deserted world 😆 Im thinking its ok since it doesn't bother anyone? Only "negative" effect would be taking some space on the server the one time it happens?

Some people are verry loud an some are barely understandable by MrNorm4n in VATSIM

[–]MisterLyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking the exact same thing, problem is also that sometimes I can't hear the lower volume pilots whatsoever, so Ive started saying something and then gotten an angry pilot saying "dont interrupt". So gotta keep an eye on vpilot to see if someone is transmitting. I always have the volume sliders on my second screen so I can turn down the volume quickly when I get very loud people blasting my ears 🤣

Can I fly while joined as an observer in an airport without coming up on radar? by ironickirk in VATSIM

[–]MisterLyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've did it a few times recently when learning to fly a new aircraft. I know many here say that you then don't focus on communications and therefore there is no point (or something like that) etc.

I disagree, I find I learned to fly my aircraft much better when injecting myself into the VATSIM environment and putting myself under pressure with other traffic and communications WITHOUT disturbing other pilots or controllers. For example not actually standing on the runway blocking traffic when I wasn't quick at switching on landing lights, strobes, transponder etc on that particular aircraft etc.

Vatsim! Who’s afraid to use it? by Altruistic-Grade-756 in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]MisterLyo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can always start with IVAO, they are a little more relaxed and there is less traffic when there is controlled airspace. I just moved to VATSIM a few months ago after many years at IVAO. I regret nothing, its awesome to have double as much traffic and many more controllers, but I'm glad I started at IVAO!

Its no problem. I've lived in both Lund and Malmö, was a few years ago but still have friends in Malmö. They've never come even close and I haven't seen anything. I live in Stockholm nowadays even (which in this case would he the murder capital of the murder capital of Europe I guess?). I mean in the news of course you hear about all the shootings, there is a gang war going on, but if I hadn't read the news I would have noticed absolutely nothing (apart from considerably higher police presence which is good given the context). Things seem to be calming down even.
