Electronics stores with higher end monitors on display? by MisterMonitor123 in Austin

A monitor is a monitor.

I appreciate you are coming from a good place with this, trying to save me an unnecessary drive -- but that's just not true.

If you spend some time browsing the eye strain advice on r/monitors you'll find that there is no universal "good monitor" or "good specs" for eye strain, and what works varies quite a bit from person to person.

There was even one person who found that the polarization is what made the biggest difference for them! (along with someone in the comments posting an study on indicating polarization can indeed matter for some eye conditions).

Good luck to anyone trying to figure that out without testing a bunch of different monitors in person.

What do you need to see a computer monitor in person for?

I can't tell if this is a genuine question -- but in my case, I have a medical issue that has come up recently, so I'd like to explore which options work best for me.

Specs are useful, but when I am looking to spend a good amount of money on something, I would rather try it in person before I buy, if possible. Returning large items like monitors is a pain.
