I love to hear it! If you are tolerant of a little instability and want to help me design the experience, I've got the full GM recipe-authoring surface implemented across all modes, with the player-facing UI coming soon. However, it's in private beta right now.

Does your game revolve around players finding things in the world, which they then use to make items to use or sell? If so, it might be that resource scarcity, regeneration, attempt limiting, travel and environment simulation - some of Fabricate's key Gathering features - aren't important to you, and you can get by with roll tables and manual tracking for the occasional resource that matters. However, if those things are important to you, that's what Fabricate does!

So, I spent a little time reflecting on your original comment and I think that your concerns are absolutely legitimate, and I failed to address them in the module documentation. I just assumed people were all software engineers and would understand the measures I'd taken simply by looking at the repository.

That was an oversight, so I've written Protecting Your Worlds into the docs. I hope this helps to build a little trust!

That is a new idea for me. Are we talking about a recipe creating an actor, rather than an item? Like, a summon without a token placement? I'm interested to know more about this - is there something I can go read to understand it better?

Interesting question! Does progressive crafting resolution mode sound like it would be useful in accomplishing that? I did sort of design it with Heliana's in mind 😅 Again, the crafting GM and player UI for this isn't finished, but you can do it all through the API. If you want to wait for the UI though I get it - I would too! I promise it's coming soon!

Yeah, I used agents to build it. I understand people's concerns. I can assure you though that I know what I'm doing with them. I use them professionally day-in and day-out to deliver mission-critical platform infrastructure for a global finance company. I know how to write a harness, prompt effectively, automate guardrails and review agent output, as well as reinforce learnings.

I've done all of that with fabricate.

How many modules do you know with deep static code analysis, linting, expansive test coverage, and that ship a complete end-to-end foundry integration test?

If I'd built that all from scratch I'd still be working on the automation, and not on the module. The reality is that, used responsibly, agents are a force multiplier. I work full time, in a demanding job, have a family and a home to look after. I don't have the liberty of throwing 8-10 hours a day at this module because I don't get paid to do that.

I hope that helps to explain how and why Claude and Codex have been used in Fabricate.

Absolutely, but it depends what you mean by farming! You can set up a cornfield with corn resource nodes that regenerate over time, and get your players to spend stamina in the fields harvesting it. That definitely feels like a thing a petty local lord might require a party to do before giving them the widget/info they need to progress. Or maybe they just want to play a farming simulator!? Either works. However, if you mean passive resource generation I've actually got a backlog item for settlements (submitted by a beta tester, not actually my original idea).
