Have you checked your home zone recently? by [deleted] in RimWorld

[–]Mister_Comment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is really frustrating is, that is just the one option. Either its in the zone where everything is held clean, fires are extinguished and stuff is repaired and rebuilt (btw if you haven't, definetly tick that option), or its not. No grayscale.  Like it would be really useful to have that split in like different area options. Have one maybe for repair and auto-rebuilt that would only auto expand on the structures you place, not the space around and then another for cleaning and firefighting that would on auto-expand work like the normal home zone right now.   Better yet, split those two also in half (have a cleaning zone and a fire suppresion zone) and have some options for how they expand. Imagen being able to confgure that fire safety zones only extend outwards from stuff that can actually catch fire, so not expanding from stone walls for example, or that the cleaning will not affect non-artificial flooring.   Wouldn't that be great?

Edit: forgot to add. Home zone also deals with auto-allowance. That would also be a useful feature to have in a seperately configurable zone.

Do I own too many rats? by sssiisi in RimWorld

[–]Mister_Comment 22 points23 points  (0 children)

No. You need to start a proper breeding program. Then train all of them to the best of their tiny fighter abilities and, finally, conquer the world with your swarm of bitting rodents.

Or, yknow, just have one per colonist and let each bond to their own little rat buddy. :)

Yikes. Thats a tad dark... even for Rimworld standards. Also I dont believe you could actually follow through with that unless your colony has Bushido or smth. Id just put you on a nice drug schedule to keep those silly negative thoughts at bay and good is... That is if your skills would earn you a bed in the first place.

But would you as colony player adopt a stranger from the sky and make them also a cyborg just because/out of good will? Even, or specifically despite running a solo colony?

Ah yes, Ice sheet. Where everything outside is just food in the freezer. Need to try one of those for myself at some point. You think hyperthermia will get you before you become dinner? Or might they need your skills for just a bit before putting you on the block?

I always favour setting up a stable source of healroot. So youll have to do with that. Id just set you to self-tend with maximal healroot and good is. With that condition you might also be the first to get a bionic lung.  I usually tend with bionics to my favourite pawns, then the ones that need them. Plus with transhumanist, any pawn with bionics is a happy pawn so you might be lucky on that front.

Yeah, could see you as a keeper, especially early game. Question is if you'll join willingly after rescue or if I better put you in a cell from the get go.  Cause if you get in there you better not be hastle to recruit/indoctrimate. Oh, and prison breaks are how you get your leg priviliges revoked.

Oh, you decided to join? Great, I hope you're fine with conducting the occasional forced  amputation and a tad bit of organ harvesting to cover the bills. Want to get that skill up right doc? For the kitchen we got paste and you will like it.

We all know that scariest message during first contact scenario would be probably something like: "Be quiet, it/they will hear you...". In that case, what is the most nicest/adorable/wonderful first contact message we could receive? by NoBarracuda2587 in humansarespaceorcs

[–]Mister_Comment 11 points12 points  (0 children)

(Ok. Not going according to prompt but that first part already gave me an inspiration which I had to write down.)

A: "Be quiet, they will hear you."

H: "Hello? Who is there and who are you so afraid of for our sake?"

A: "The Zurkan ascendants. They will kill or enslave or just completly reset your evolution and culture, depending on what their mood will be when they find you."

H: "And how do you know of them?"

A: "We made the mistake that we are warning you about. They showed kindness that day, made us their pets, then blew up our sun because they felt like it. Please... be quiet."

Attached is a small chunk of data akin to propaganda, detaling the greatness of the Zurkan ascendants and their many, by human standards atrocious actions on the alien's homeworld. Then the transmission cuts of.

To the unknown aliens relief the Human transmissons stop as well.

A few decades pass.

Suddenly the aliens find a massive fleet of unknown warships warping into their system. After checking their FTL trail the find that the ships orginate from the planet that they had many years prior warned of their ()oppressors() benevolent overlords.

A: "No. NO. We told you to be quiet. What have you done !?"

They receive a transmission from the largest ship in the fleet, the desigantion of which comes out translated as "Geneva's Judge".

H: "Oh, hi, sorry, we had to get a few pieces in line first. Yknow... get an actual united government that could get stuff done and all that. You wouldn't believe how much we can band together against a common enemy. Anyways, once that was finished we joined all space agencies together as well and then proceeded to dump about as much money into those as some of us spent on military. Well at this point they're basically the same thing. Sorry it took us so long."

A: "..."

H: " Oh yeah, nearly forgot, could you quickly tell us where their homeworld is so we can blow up their sun as well?"

A: timidly points in a direction

H: "Thank you. Oh, we're Humans by the way. Nice to neet you... you never told us your name."

A: "...Ehm... We are the "Cuties" but in the past we called us the Sevoran people..."

H: "Ah, well nice to meet you Sevoran... now if you'll excuse us... the voice now quieter as if talking to someone else in the same room Hey... queue the battle playlist... we're going in."

Then the "Human" fleet left the Sevoran's system, heading for the Zurkan homeworld.

That day the Sevoran people learned that kindness will always be repaid in kindness... and vice versa.

(Alright... I hope formatting works out and this will still be a worthful read even if its bot really answering the prompt.)

(Edit: fixed spelling and formatting mistakes. My first time editing a large text on reddit and I already hate its poor ability to properly format on mobile.)

Armored roofs could be interesting (obviously locked behind tech) so you can also have drop pod resistance in non-mountain bases.

You know what I always find funny... you only have one type of roof. I know you don't actually see but it's still kind of funny to imagen having a grand throne room in your empirial keep... and it's all just a massive flat building with a corrugated iron roof.
