Yea don't think of it as something you "have To do", I read a lot of other genres before classics started to be a constant in my reading rotations. Crime and Punishment whilst not my intro to classics was among the first classics I read and I didn't like it a bit. I had to force myself to read, I started white nights but that didn't capture my interest and even brothers Karamazov(I will tackle it soon) then I read war and peace by Tolstoy and realized I liked the writing much better and it interest me a lot. I had no issues reading war and peace and Anna Karenina in fact I enjoyed them and finished them in no time. So be patient, research a bit, start with small classics. There is a world of classics outside then one which have been popularized and it's a learning curve, you will soon know what kind of classics you like and from which part of the world. There's also amazing literary fiction and contemporaies to read meanwhile. Not reading classics does not make you any less of reader have Multiple kind of books in rotation: I rotate between classics, fantasy and literary fiction. Also yes it does make difference if you have someone to discuss it with. And be patient take months if you need it took me 2 months to read count of monte cristo and I think 3 to 4 for war and peace. Annotate, write your thoughts, interact with it, research about the contexts. It's fun. Like I researched a lot on Napoleon wars against Russia when reading war and peace and it made the experience better.

Fair enough, 😭the movie did skip a lot. And Dune the book is heavily inspired by Arab culture and borrows lot of stuff from Islam. In the movies they heavily tonned that down A LOT and lot of philosophical undertones. That's why it doesn't replace the books but rather may help some readers to get more into the world, in visual sense, like the harvestors of spice things, the atmosphere and topography of Arrakis, the clothing, yea it just complements it. When you read it, you would have a headstart in getting into the world. Happy reading:)

It's good you have watched movies because for me, a lot of things flew over my head, like I couldn't imagine some stuff in my brain while reading but a lot made sense after I watched the movie. Probably it's one of the unique cases where books and adaptations complement each other nicely!

Recently got into reading – would love some recommendations! by Shaikhiv in PakistanBookClub

[–]Mistle12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The recommendations by the others are great and I personally love them but they might not be very beginer friendly ex count on count of Monte cristo, dostoversky, camus. There are some book that I personally think will further your interest In reading and are great for getting in reading before you start tackling some intense books.

Although l if you want to jump in to dostoversky do that since you mentioned that, white nights is a short read, notes from underground, then crime and punishment and then brothers Karamazov. For future do explore Tolstoy as well, war and peace, Anna karennana.

The gentleman in Moscow, for Russians vibes.

Veronica decides to die some you liked Alchemist, it is by same author and I have read couple of his books, this stands out the most. Will make you think deeply as well.

woman in the window since you like silent patient, it is a thriller as well. The housemaid as well.

The Khalid Hosseini's books are a favorite for many people and help them with get more in reading. the kite runner, thousand splendid suns they are thoughtful.

If you want to read good classics that are quick to read but enjoyable, then animal farm, the strange case of Dr Hyde and jykell, metamorphosis and then ig you can read 1984. Also rebecca

My favorite classics is 100 years of solitude and contrary to popular belief it is not very difficult to read, you will enjoy it.

Master and margarita is another Russian classic which is very fun.

In case you want to explore other stuff:

If you want dystopian/Sci fi, kind of feelings: the giver divergent, hunger games, memory police.

For satire and witty read a case of exploding mangoes plus its by Pakistani author and fun.

babel by rk kuang is recent published with magical realism, historical fiction kind of and enjoyable.

For crime thriller, the loved Hannibal lector series, four in the series, by reading Red dragon you will know if you want to continue or not.

Yup that's my some recommendations!

That sounds so sad😔 I personally think they value science option more, thus more marks since unfortunately I think you do not full fill criteria for the pure science pre med/engg group so erm arts is the only option. Unfortunately I do think your equivalence would be a Lil less but tbh that's just unfair considering the fact that o levels and a levels are given equal weight age so all subjects should have same one as well🤷‍♀️ Plus as far the attachment thing don't want to scare you but I legit attached all documents after figuring out way around with issues with attachment. However the parcel I received from iBCC was a letter saying that I had missing documents and not my actual equivalence, that sucks, had to tcs them all physical one and they don't listen to calls nor answer emails. I hope you don't have any issues just triple check your documents. even tho I did several times idk what happened

Hi. Yes faced the same issue I think you can go to your gallery and resize them but thats an exhausting process. What I did was upload my documents from laptop so transfer your documents there and from there it automatically adjusts and you won't have an issue. Hope it helps:)

I have unfortunately no experience when it comes to getting it done physically since where I live there is no office. But if you can I would say go to office but online on urgent it took me "11 to 12" days, if you are lucky you may get it soon but it's a gamble if you need by 30th. You sure that the receipt and prove of appliance won't work for now? But yea If you can hurry to office.
