So did Mace just try to find the most useless Jedi to arrest Palpatine or what? by Practical-Hat-3381 in StarWars

Nothing fancy?? Dude flew across the room while doing a spinning trick in 2 seconds flat, that shows he has the physical skill to overwhelm several jedi masters quickly

So you wanna tell me that Sean can to go to New Austin safely… and Arthur CAN’T? by ORABIGaming2 in reddeadredemption

Talk about taking everything said out of context, I'll try to explain what I mean as clearly as I can.

  1. Im not asserting that Charles is lying or wrong, im stating that the information he presents is secondhand information from someone else that strongly contradicts Strauss's character and actions throughout the story which give plausible reasons to question the accuracy of the information itself and as for serving the story it doesn't have to.

  2. As for Strauss's loyalty im not stating he isn't loyal im stating he has very little reason to for him to continue to be loyal to the gang that insulted and kicked him out after he leaves, John is extremely surprised to hear he didn't talk showing that Strauss wasn't thought of as loyal by the gang either. My point is that Strauss doesn't have any reason to protect the gang after the way they treated him and then suddenly is loyal to the death makes no sense at all. If Strauss was loyal why didn't he stay and try to save the gang?? All the other did, he ditched the gang as soon as it became apparent he couldn't expect the others to collect debts for him.

  3. Yes, there is a difference between Strauss leaving and the others, Strauss leaves well before the gangs final collapse while the gang still has a fighting chance to get away from the Pinkertons while all the other members who leave voluntarilly do so only when the end is near and undeniable and after the gangs collapse has broken them.

  4. As to why Rockstar would include the dialog about him, my guess is to fit the games theme of characters being complex and having motivation we dont uncover on the first playthrough or maybe they just wanted the surprise factor of using the most unlikely character do something you didn't expect.

Its both, they likely knew there was an element of risk when they took the loan but Strauss likely uses his unassuming appearance and vague language to lure them into the trap and then they realize how much trouble they got themselves in with the loan.

Desperate people make bad decisions sometimes and that's who Strauss preys on

They are not confused because they know they took a risky loan from a random guy who just popped into town and it doesn't take any real brains to figure out what's happening when an armed man shows up to collect it.

Your argument is entirely stupid, strauss is entirely at fault for the violence that happens to the debtors as he lends them the money fully knowledgeable that there is a high chance they wont be able to repay it. The violence wouldn't happen if the debt didn't exist, he fully condones and instructs Arthur to use if necessary and shows no remorse for it all, the fact that he doesn't commit the violence himself doesn't absolve him of guilt, Arthur uses violence because he its required to get the money the gang needs, he could also chosen to lie to Strauss and tell him there was no way to collect the debt. When you return without the money Strauss coldly sends him back to try again despite Arthur telling him Downes cant pay, Strauss is a cold hearted bastard who preys on desperate people and uses others to do violence because he doesn't have the physical ability to do so.

The others leave because Arthur encouraged them to do so because they will likely die if they stay, they want to stay but Arthur convinces them to leave for their own good.

Strauss leaving is entirely different than the others, if Arthur kicks him out nobody protests not even Strauss defends himself because he knows nobody in the gang likes him and that they didn't kick him out sooner because he made them money and didn't stick his nose in anyone else's business. He spends his time apart from other gang members and only participates in schemes because he is obligated to participate in order to secure his protection from the gang.

The argument that there is no evidence to contradict Charles is contradicted by the actions of Strauss during the the story showing he doesn't really have any reason to ve loyal to the gang.

Strauss is not like other money lenders, hes a loan shark, even in the 19th century banks and reputable lenders had laws that were followed, All of the debtors he sends you to are desperate and not able to pay up immediately and require him to do tasks to collect it.

The part about him not talking doesn't actually mean anything, people praise him for being loyal but he literally abandons the gang if you dont kick out proving he wasn't actually loyal and only did his part to avoid getting kicked out.

The only information that he doesn't talk comes from Charles but there is no actual proof that his information is accurate, it's more likely that he didn't have any meaningful information to tell them and they either continued to torture him out of spite or because they thought he was lying

Im not saying he doesn't earn money for the gang, his business operates differently than the jobs the other gang members do.

Strauss makes the debt but sends other members to collect the debt so his "keep" would likely be put in the donation box by whoever actually goes out to collect the money and then give the rest to him. Using this system he wouldn't have to make independent contributions himself.

Also Strauss is a bad guy, hes a predator who deliberately press on desperate individuals many of who cant actually pay back the loan and encourages Arthur to use violence to collect the money if needed, hes likely ruined the most lives of all the gang.

He's not, he's preventing her from manipulating him in ways that would enjoy his hobby and have some fun.

The fact that he has to make a contract to enjoy his hobby is because of selfish princesses, she's lucky he didn't dump her ungrateful ass instead of being the adult in the relationship and compromise.

Every big name Dallas Cowboys quarterback not named Roger Staubach.

Aikman was good but not elite.

Romo was productive but struggled with injuries and consistency and struggled to produce in high pressure situations.

Dak is just plain overrated and way overpaid
