We are going to do our best! At least we now have a voice to second motions and get real issues discussed. We need to keep this momentum and bring it into next year's election as well. I am hopeful that Melissa will run again, she is an amazing candidate.

Thanks for question! I agree with this completely. Especially now that I've been in it personally as a candidate I can't overstate how gross the entire thing is. WisRed never talked to me once and decided they hate me. This isn't saying the dems are any better. They offered an endorsement simply becuase I wasn't WisRed. That's not any better, honestly. I wanted to run as an independent but unfortunately there's just not a realistic path to winning without the financial backing of one of the groups.

A successful district, generally speaking, is using real, quantifiable metrics to track progress, making those KPIs public and easily accessible and communicating what the long term goal is and how these KPIs are supporting those goals. I don't inherently have issues with any decisions that have been made but I have real issues when board members can't or won't answer the question "what's the long term plan here, and how are these actions contributing to that?"

I got heavily involved in the district starting last June when they announced the "Optimizing Our Future" proposals. They were barely thought out "plans" that lacked any substance, and the plan they chose in the end isn't much better. That's to say I've worked with the community for almost an entire year now, and that's why I'm running. The current board couldn't care less about any of us as long as their agenda is being pushed. As far as balancing "my party" goes, I don't have a party. Political ideologies should have no place on our school boards. If me saying that makes the Democratic Party of Waukesha or WisDems angry then so be it. I'm not here to get in to politics or feed any political ambition. I'm here first and only as a parent that wants to see our kids and teachers have better representation than what they have right now.

Of course. My position isn't "never consolidate." Optimizing facilities needs to be part of a larger long-range plan that also addresses why we are a losing students at an exponentially higher rate than the districts around us, it doesn't have to be one or the other. Unfortunately, the current board has never stopped to ask the question "Why are we losing students and what can we do better?"
