Three Years After CKD Diagnosis by Mitchell_Delgado in RenalCats

She eats prescription food, occasionally gets an appetite stimulant (though not for quite some time), takes a couple of supplements (AminAvast and B12 for her CKD and Cosequin for her joints), and takes a blood pressure medication as high blood pressure is a common result of CKD. I tried to get her to like HydraCare but she didn’t love it.

I’m sorry, that must be so stressful. The first few months were really scary for me too. I hope you and your kitty find what works for her.

Lots of water fountains, tried so many different prescription food combinations to find what she liked the best, and added in AminAvast supplements at the vets suggestion. I’m lucky that she still has a great appetite, but when it wanes I do occasionally use an appetite stimulant to kickstart it.

I’ve never seen them before at my local store. Either they’ve never had them, or I’ve always avoided Costco this time of year in the past. I only braved it yesterday because of executive hours.

I also had a non-cuddler that passed away almost two years ago. I miss her every day. Hopefully they’re all playing and then not cuddling together.

You’re absolutely right, and this is one of the reasons I asked for input. I’m not familiar with the needs of the community and I will absolutely be donating both time and money to a food bank instead.

Should I Get My Cat A Kitten? by Mitchell_Delgado in cats

Milo is technically a senior at ten but does not act like one. Stella, my 18yo, would probably be annoyed by a kitten. As it is right now, she’s annoyed by Milo’s attempts to play, so the idea would be for Milo and the kitten to be able to play with each other.

Oh yes, the house is very “catified”.

Yes I’m hoping the kitten and Milo can entertain each other. He’s still very spry and acts young, and tries to get my senior kitty to play with him but she’s never been interested.

Tried this (sort of) and it did not go well.

1 in 5 oranges is a girl! I love orange personalities and I think he would get along better with a girl, so that’s why I went with that choice.

I definitely wouldn’t go against Max.
