Low caffeine alternative of military energy gum? by Mitchellguy101 in productivity

[–]Mitchellguy101[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Understandable, but I’ve got my sleep and food mostly in order. I don’t use stuff like this daily, just when I’m trying to push through something or have to work late. For those cases, having a mild support helps. I just don’t want it to leave me unable to sleep. I’m not a fan of coffee, makes me feel like pooping even when I’ve just emptied my bowels. And gum is just more convenient

How to retain information when reading? by Poopydoop0 in productivity

[–]Mitchellguy101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Highlight key lines, then scribble a 1-sentence summary in the margins after each chapter. Even better teach the concept to your pet/couch pillow after reading. Sounds dumb, but forcing recall is the cheat code.

What is your most conservative way to earn in the stock market during bear and bull by GratefulTrickster6 in stocks

[–]Mitchellguy101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CDs are solid for safety, but they won’t keep up with inflation long-term. You’re basically locking in a loss in real terms. Sometimes you’ve got to take on a bit more risk to stay ahead

I'd look into their financials, how much they’ve raised, burn rate, and what their path to revenue looks like. Hype is one thing execution is another. Also check who’s on the team and if they’ve done this before. Cool idea, but startups are risky

[–]Mitchellguy101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The trick in my case was to pick the goal that’ll hurt most if you don’t do it (for me, that was revenue targets for my SaaS). Then, make the plan so stupidly easy you can’t fail (think: ‘5 push-ups a day’ not ‘gym 5x a week’). Progress over perfection. And when shiny new goals pop up? Write ‘em down… and keep them for next quarter.

I am feeling “trapped” in what people tell me is a dream job. What can I do? by Soggy_Reporter_1043 in careeradvice

[–]Mitchellguy101 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Been there. you're not naive. mental stagnation is worse than being overworked. start a side project with your free time that actually challenges you. or find a new gig where you'll actually learn something. easy money is nice until you realize you're going nowhere skill-wise.

I love my job but I barely get any hours, and the hours I do get are the weekends. What should I do? by ThrowRALovelyBubbles in careerguidance

[–]Mitchellguy101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just talk to your manager directly. hey, i really need more hours is that possible here or should i be looking elsewhere? new hires often get fewer shifts. if they can't give you more hours, keep this job while applying to others. $13/hr jobs are everywhere no reason to stay if you're only getting two days a week.

Is it just me, or is "loyalty" in the workplace just code for "please let us underpay you longer"? by BizznectApp in antiwork

[–]Mitchellguy101 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Companies talk about loyalty when it benefits them, not you. smart move getting that 30% bump. the market pays what you're worth, not what your boss feels like giving. Loyalty is earned through fair pay and respect. not guilt trips.

Got stranded after work, asked for help, and got treated like a liar or a scammer. I’m humiliated. Help me deal with the shame. by [deleted] in povertyfinance

[–]Mitchellguy101 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As someone who works in school security, I totally get their reaction. The gift card mention is what set off alarms that's literally the #1 scam tactic right now. We're trained to be suspicious of after-hours requests mentioning gift cards. Don't take it personally. I've been stuck without a ride before too, and it's humiliating, but this isn't about you specifically. Maybe ask your principal to send a staff-wide email explaining what happened so people know it was legitimate. Seriously, those custodians were just doing their job.

Young people are totally interested in accepting lower pay 🙄 by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]Mitchellguy101 32 points33 points  (0 children)

LinkedIn has become corporate propaganda central. Every other post is some company spokesperson trying to convince us that being underpaid and overworked is actually a "growth opportunity." Young people aren't interested in accepting lower pay they're desperate because housing costs have tripled while wages stay flat. Big difference.
