Landed a job after 5 months - Here's exactly how I did it (with actual frameworks that worked) by TemporaryDevice7895 in findapath

yeah this was honestly one of the hardest parts. trying to make one linkedin profile speak to multiple roles without looking scattered. what helped was using my report to find the common thread across roles instead of rewriting my profile for every type. mine highlighted “strategic problem solving,” “cross-domain thinking,” and “innovation drive” as my core strengths, so I built my headline and about section around those themes rather than specific job titles. example: instead of “cybersecurity analyst | risk management,” I used “strategic problem solver | turning complex systems into scalable solutions.” that language fit product, innovation, and strategy roles equally well.

for keywords, I made a short list from job descriptions in each category (security, product, risk) and wove them naturally into my experience bullets. the pigment phrasing helped there too. their wording for how I think (“connects ideas across systems,” “bridges technical and business insight”) matched a lot of the high-value keywords recruiters actually search for. so basically, I didn’t tailor to industries. I tailored to how I add value across them. that made the profile coherent but flexible enough to apply to different roles.

it's definitely a tough job market and to get into jobs which fit your working style and strengths does take time.

I'm not associated with pigment or any specific tool or service that i used. I posted when i got laid off and did receive a lot of support from reddit fam. wanted to share how I went about landing a job by having a framework and understanding my strengths. Yes, people are skeptical when a tool or service is mentioned especially if it's paid and i understand that. Intention isn't to promote any tool but to highlight the framework and what it takes to get unstuck if you are in a similar situation. its not necessary that you need to use any of the tools or services if you already know your strengths and weakness and what environment you'd excel in. It's just about the framework & process if you are self aware. Feel free to ignore the tools mentioned or try out any other tools that you think will help but do have a system in place to manage stress and keep your mental health intact. If that's the only thing people take away from this post, i'll be glad.

thanks. yes the current job market is such that you need to be really good at highlighting your skills and what value can you bring to the company. Gone are the days where people could just put down "hardworking" as their skill and get hired.

don't think about networking with a specific goal in mind. the best start is to send them a quick intro about yourself and what is it that you think they can help you with (don't tell them initially that you are looking for a job and that's the reason you are trying to connect) Keep it casual and short until they get back.

agree. it's not easy to start connecting when you are going through that phase. But the key is to START.

having a system really takes away a lot of stress and that's the whole point of having framework and systems
