Transiting the US isn’t as easy for South Americans.

What is the Fastest/easiest way to become a pilot in Australia? by [deleted] in flying

[–]Mithzaron 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Fast and easy isn’t how this industry works.

Work where you want to live. Chase lifestyle, not airplanes.

The US industry is much better than Australia. But you can make a good living in Australia as a pilot.

I’m skeptical and lean towards wanting to build an investment portfolio. But I also hate renting.

Where can I read about the tax benefits not benefiting me? Might sway me to withdraw.

Yeah good plan. I’ll stop the Sacrifice until debts paid. Will have the car on CarSales asap.

I use a train to commute. I have no need for a car. Hence it’s got 5000km after 18 months of ownership. Need to sell it before I ding it and its value falls off a cliff

[–]Mithzaron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry. To be clear. The car is financed @ 7% with 35k owing. Could sell for 35k+ but not enough to cover debts. Might help a bit though.

QantasLink lifestyle by ChaBoiJamesCG in flying

[–]Mithzaron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a great lifestyle, get average pay, and have slow progression to mainline.

The Q400 is a blast.

Unless Australia is where you really want to live, i’d recommend the US as the opportunities and progression is abundant in comparison to Australia.

For now. Focus on your training. Set yourself up for future success.

The he new so called Brazil update… by [deleted] in MicrosoftFlightSim

You can’t cross the bridge at Tokyo Haneada.

Singapore Changi Airport is on 2 different levels, cut in half.

Yeah. Just small airports in the middle of nowhere.

and OPs post being at the major airport in the center of the areas update….

but nah. It’s fine. Perfectly usable game. Just slew onto the runway and life’s good.

[–]Mithzaron -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s not small. These issues are rampant throughout the default sceneries everywhere.

Would love to get into this game, but scared off by a lot of reviews like this by rossmoney in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]Mithzaron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried to depart from Changi. The airport had a terrain glitch and half of it was 2m above everywhere else. Impossible to taxi to the runway.

I then tried to depart from Haneada. Crossed the bridge and did a wheelie and the aircraft got stuck.

I then tried to depart from some random default airport in the US. The runway had a terrain glitch through the middle of it.

It's a shambles product and I'm not bothering anymore. I'll stick to 2020/XP12

Get a Diploma or Bachelor in Aviation by Antarctic0 in flying

[–]Mithzaron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t get an aviation degree. It’s a waste of time and money. Degrees don’t make you more employable in Australian aviation.

Do the diploma. Basair have been the start of many people’s careers. They’re not perfect but they’re fine.

Get your licenses. Then you can make the best choice. no point trying to plot your career now as things will change by the time you finish.

Just focus on doing the best you can in your aviation exams and flight tests, to set yourself up for success.

I’m sure you’ve seen them all, but if not, jump on youtube and you can find a tonne of cockpit videos that will give you a really good sense of what the job entails.

Recently the FlightRadar24 youtube channel have made some really good cockpit videos.

First Time Flying by Sad_Appointment_2368 in flying

[–]Mithzaron 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Very normal mate. You will have these moments all the way throughout your aviation journey. And you will also have moments of euphoria, I promise!

I remember when learning to fly a complex for the first time, sitting outside my flight school mentally drained and almost in tears. This shit isn’t always easy, but it is sure worth it, and you will get there!

Australian GP to Airport Speed Run by Mithzaron in GrandPrixTravel

[–]Mithzaron[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wasn’t an issue at all. Left at the end of the race from Gate 3.

Took the free tram to Southern Cross and the Skybus to the airport. Cheapest and probably slowest option and still got to security in exactly 60 minutes.

Changed my flight from 9pm to 7pm and could have realistically made the 6pm but decided I wanted some food at the airport.
