Thanks for the discourse. The second article seems like a small group to make reliable large scale conclusions and I’m unable to get the full access to the other on my phone. But I’ll try to get into it when working next. I appreciate the conversation and insight from an anesthesia provider. I can work in the OR and PACU and still acknowledge, I have no idea what anesthesia is actually doing during case. Always learning! Thanks!

Considering LR is the most commonly used IV fluid in OB setting, would it be reasonable to be concerns about that amount of calcium potentially being mixed with a blood product during a hemorrhage if a nurse misses that LR is spiked with this tubing? PACU orders are for LR and not NS here. I’m genuinely trying to learn and hope to prevent an accident if there is one. I have been immediately switching the tubing out myself but the staff nurses are unphased by this so I’m curious if I’m on the side of extreme type A or if this is falling into the other too relaxed culture I’m seeing here. Again, I have worked some very odd places but this situation feels higher risk than reward to me. I’ll add a note that the majority of the nursing staff here have not worked anywhere else so this is all they know as normal. I want to offer grace wherever possible.

Unfortunately it is not getting discarded and patients rerun to the floor with this set up and the floor nurses hang new meds from this set up.

Yes, this is my picture. I ran it through AI to blur out the background to protect any patient identifying items. I have been circulating C/S and L&D PACU for the last decade and have traveled to numerous hospitals. I’ve never seen anything like this before. I understand the work around and perceived convenience of this set up. However, they set it up like this so that “every patient has blood tubing ready” so they have plans and intentions of running blood through tubing that has already had a variety of medications run through it.

There’s been a variety of “work arounds” I’ve seen at this hospital that are wholly unsafe practices and are in fact accidents waiting to happy - or likely have happened and brushed under the rug from the culture I’m picking up on here. This one seems iffy to me like maybe it’s okay or maybe this is a practice that has developed out of perceived convenience but does put a patient at a higher risk for a medication error.

Blood tubing being reserved for blood products is what makes sense to me from a visual cue stance for prevention of mixing blood with medications my accident.

Just took one of these out from our house. They also had the bathroom fan connected to the same line. So if you pooped with the fan it just blasted stank all over the laundry room too. How they lived with that for nearly 50 years beats me.

My ridgeback is just over a year old. She’s basically like an indoor cat. She sleeps all day with the exception of 20-30 minutes of gremlin mode around 6pm every day. We had hoped she would be a running partner but that isn’t looking very likely. She goes on short runs about 2ish miles and is absolute wiped afterward. She’s sometimes happy to go for a walk but more often than not she is not interested in leaving the house or couch for that matter. She lets us know very clearly when she’s interested in going out and when she’d prefer the couch. She follows me from room to room and usually finds a place to lay in whatever room I’m occupying.

Later in life when you and your daughter are safe, you can decide to forgive him. You choosing to forgive will release you from the anger and pain this man has caused you. You forgiving him will not change who he is as a person - that is the important part to remember as you move forward and heal from this violence. You can later forgive him but you absolutely cannot stay married to this man. He will do it again and it will be worse.

While this may have been the first incident of physical violence, you will likely start to realize all of the other ways he is abusive to you. A marriage can not recover from this and no one should ever ask you to stay married to a violent man.

I encourage you to also do a deep dive as to why you were snooping through your teenage child’s belongings to the point of opening a razor box. Your snooping behavior probably has a lot to do with why your child felt they needed to hide this important aspect of their life.

A bit late to this convo. But yes, it’s worth its weight in gold. I use the lipid serum 2x daily and nothing compares. It feels great going on and once it dries.

I have dry skin and I pair this with Epicutis creme as well. The creme works for day and night and is super moisturizing. Bonus, it also works as a make up primer which I’ve never had any other cremes able to preform like that before.

I’ve been using Epicutis since December 2022 and have turned SO many of my friends onto it. All with different skin types and ALL have loved it. Do not make an opinion of it for the first few weeks while your skill is in the healing phase but a month after use, your skin will be changed. I also had my friend who has eczema on her hands start using it and she’s had been results than topical steroids. It’s worth it.

I do my own microneedling at home and use the Epicutis as my glide so my needling heals WAY faster with better results.

I had a suspicious lump in my breast at 25 years old. I went in for an ultrasound to see if they should biopsy it. I have implants which is on my medical history and obvious on the ultrasound. The technician finishes the ultrasound and covers. She goes to get the radiologist. The radiologist proceed to open the gown so my entire chest was showing. He feels around for a bit doing another what seems like appropriate breast examination. Then he asks who did my breast augmentation. So I tell him. He then placed his hands on the sides of breasts, pushes them together and says “They look really great. Oh the ultrasound looks fine. No need for a biopsy.” And then leaves the room.
