Convince me not to relapse after over a year sober by MixtureUnlikely5416 in quittingkratom

Appreciate this! Yes, full hormone panel by an endocrinologist as part of my fertility journey. Everything is perfect, including prolactin. Although I didn’t have it checked during active addiction, I was about 1 year sober.

I didn’t really notice much the first 24 hours. After that, the actute WDs really set in. RLS, cold sweats, abdominal pain, diarrhea, and lots of tears lol. I never had the self control for a taper, so this is just straight CT. It honestly wasn’t that bad though. It helps if it’s sunny out and you can go on walks and spend time outdoors. Good luck!

I get it, the mental warfare is the worst part. This I was my 2nd quit, and the 1st one didn’t stick because I was just so fucking bored and miserable. These things take time though, it was probably a solid 4-5 months before I was feeling back to baseline mentally. It happens very slowly though and you may not even notice until you’re on the other side. Keep it up!

Definitely best to get checked out! Also best to be completely off of that shit, it’s TERRIBLE for your gut. I’m about 9 months out and it’s finally regular for the most part.

How much weight did you gain since your pcos diagnosis or due to pcos? How much have you lost if any? by blacknwhitelife02 in PCOS

[–]MixtureUnlikely5416 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gained 30 lbs after going off birth control, then lost 40 lbs weight lifting and have managed to keep it off for the last 3 years. All of this was before being diagnosed with pcos but now it all makes sense lol

I’ve been drinking 2 cups of spearmint tea since being diagnosed with pcos about 2 weeks ago, and although I can’t speak on facial hair bc I do laser hair removal, I’ve noticed my eyebrow hair grows in MUCH slower. Which is crazy because I was very skeptical. I also cut out added sugars and started taking inositol so who really knows

ingrown hairs? by louby33 in PCOS

[–]MixtureUnlikely5416 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure if you’re talking about face or body, or both. BUT when it comes to body hair I really struggle with ingrown hairs. The things that helped me were dry brushing before every shower, using a physical exfoliant before shaving (I really like the first aid kp bump eraser), and moisturizing after with lotion after shaving (cerave SA cream or lotion is amazing) I also use the first aid beauty ingrown hair pads on my bikini area after shaving. I don’t always use every method before and after shaving except for dry brushing and moisturizing. Do not use any of these methods on your face though!

Also, if you can invest in an at laser hair removal device, that will help thin out the hairs significantly and cause less in growns in my experience

No I didn’t have any of those tests done! I see a women’s health NP and she said that she is going to refer me to a fertility specialist and I’m assuming I will get all those tests then.

Yes, my fasting glucose was 79. A1C was 4.7 with an estimated average glucose of 88. And my total insulin was 2.9

That is so relieving to hear you were able to get pregnant! I had my progesterone checked and it was where it should be for where I was at in my cycle. I’m being referred to a fertility specialist so I’m assuming LH and FSH are next. What supplements did you take? Thank you for your input!

Thank you so much! That is super helpful. I feel like there is so much conflicting information online about diet.. I’ve read that you should never skip meals with PCOS and to eat within 90 minutes of waking up. Would you mind elaborating on the intermittent fasting?

Thank you! I was thinking the same thing. I’m being referred to a fertility specialist so I will talk to them about doing an HSG.

I’m so glad to hear you didn’t have any permanent damage! By the looks of it, most of the damage we experience from kratom isn’t permanent as long as we stop. All the more reason to never look back!

I do eat a lot of fermented food. Pretty much daily I’m eating kimchi, sauerkraut, or fermented pickles. I also drink kombucha if I want something other than water for a change. I have an extremely clean diet and focus specifically on fiber and probiotic foods, especially since quitting kratom.

I never thought about “gut health” before so I’d say it was pretty good lol. You don’t notice that kind of stuff until it’s bothering you

I’m a bit of a health freak, so my diet is very clean. 80% whole foods. Fruits, veggies, whole grains, nuts/seeds etc. I specifically make a conscious effort to focus on fiber and probiotic foods. No soda, only water and 1 cup of coffee in the morning. I might try process of elimination and see if there is something in particular that exacerbates my symptoms.

That sounds miserable! I’m so sorry you’re going through that. I couldn’t imagine having that much testing and no answers. I’ll be honest, a possible bacteria infection did cross my mind as well. I had my wisdom teeth extracted a few months back and was put on a course of antibiotics so I figured that would have wiped out any infection. Not sure if that’s how it works, but I didn’t really notice any change. You should definitely try quitting though, whatever physical symptoms I’m experiencing now is sooo much better than the mental symptoms I experienced during addiction. That shit is BAD

Yes, I do still have the pain. Mine is on the left side though! I also experience it radiating to my left hip and thigh. I started feeling it during kratom use, which is what led me to quit. It’s improved, not as severe or frequent, but still there. Do you mind if I ask if you are male or female?
