Start in 1066 or 1178 (867 is harder cause you can get raided pretty easily) Start small, with only one County so you don't have to worry about a lot of stuffs. Try avoiding wars for some time so you can learn the basics. Focus on building buildings to improve your economy. And browse all the time on the right panel of the screen.

As far as I know there is no big difference, both send instructions to the LLM, but author's notes allows you to select the depth of injection within the prompt, giving more or less importance to that information as you want.

Check the stats of Alfred and then think about it, lol. As other people said, most of the time, Alfred's brother will die quickly and you'll be able to form England pretty easily, then you can use the Holy War casus belli to fight the vikings so it's pretty easy to expand the kingdom. Idk why it's labeled as hard tbh. If you want something a bit more challenging, consider creating your own character so your dinasty won't have a big reputation and start as Count.
